Chapter 28: You've Known Me For Too Long
Lorelai's P.O.V.
"Good morning." I greet Luke as I enter the bacon smelling kitchen. He gives me a smile and a nod in return as he plates the rest of the cooked bacon on two plates. "Thank you so much."
"No problem." he replies. He seems off, very off but I don't know why.
"You okay?" I inquire.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Want some coffee?"
I nod and he pours me a cup. There's something wrong.
"Are you sure there's nothing wrong?" I push but he just shakes his head. "Okay then, how did you sleep?"
"I slept fine, and you?"
"Fine. Do you have a busy day today?"
"Just the usual bozos who demand too much for too little."
"Bozos?"
"Yeah, bozos. What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing, you just never say that."
"I do too." he argues.
"No you don't."
"Well now I do, okay?"
"Okay." I reply in a wary voice. "I'm going to go get ready for work. Thank you for the breakfast it was good."
"No problem." is all he says as he turns his back to wash the dishes.
I get up from the dining table and head upstairs. What on earth is up with him? All I can do is ponder as I get ready for work.
Rory's P.O.V.
I flop back down on my bed after Stacy left, an unknown emotion still surging through me. How could she do that? She knows how serious I am about my job. She knew how much that would distress me. In fact, all she's done is stress me out since I met her. I'm tired of this.
My thoughts tire me further and I am soon drifted into a deep and hung over slumber.
Logan's P.O.V.
I frantically push the elevator buttons in hopes of it moving faster. I heard from Fin that Rory had been in a club he was at last night; and that she'd been carried off by some man after something being slipped into her drink. Please be okay. Please.
The elevator doors finally open and I run down the hall to her room. "Rory?!" I bang with no response. "Rory please open up."
I hear shuffling on the other side and a very annoyed groan before the lock is unlatched and the door is swung open. "What do you want?" she asks in irritation. Her face has red lines across it from sleeping on some sort of object, and her skin is more pale than usual while her hair is knotted and wild.
"Are you okay?" I ask quickly.
"Yeah. I'm fine. What do you want?"
"Fin said he saw you at a club last night and got something put in your drink before being carried away by some guy. I know Phil has his crazy stories that only he can conjure up, but I don't think this is one that his mental capabilities could have made. Are you okay? What happened?"
"Fin is right but it wasn't just some guy. It was Jess." his names makes my blood boil but I hide my aggravation for the sake of it not being a good time for that, given Rory's condition.
"Why didn't you call me? You know how quickly I can get to you."
"Because I didn't think you were in this state, let alone this city. But Jess is so I called him. Why is this important?" her confusion brings a smile to my face as it becomes clear that the alcohol is not yet out of her system.
"Come, come lay down." I say gently as I lead her to her bed.
"And Stacy pulled a horrible trick on me, worse than that time in the professor's office when you, Colin, and Fin did a skit where you both claimed to love me."
"Even worse than that, huh?" I chuckle and she smiles. I lay her down and sit next to her, beginning to detangle her hair. "Do you have any Tylenol for your headache?"
"Somewhere, but I don't know where."
"I'll find some and get you some water, okay?"
"Okay, thank you." she whispers as sleep soon takes over her.
Rory's P.O.V.
I wake up to a dark room with the window pulled open. The fuzzy sheets that lie underneath me have never felt more comfortable.
"Good evening." I hear Logan say as he approaches me, his figure being the only thing I can see of him.
"Is it evening already? Have you been here this whole time?"
"Yes and yes. I had Colin bring by some food and more Tylenol for you. He offered to bring wine but I told him you probably wouldn't be going near alcohol for a while." he chuckles and I smile.
"Yeah you're probably right. Thank you Logan, you didn't have to do this."
"It's not a problem, Ace. Go ahead and sit up and I'll get your food."
He walks over to the desk and rotates the light switch ever so slightly so that the lights shine dimly, but bright enough for me to see the room. He opens the window curtains before laying the food on the night table next to the bed.
"Okay, we got cinnamon roles, tacos, mac and cheese, shrimp, steak, and some fancy chicken thing." he explains and I chuckle at the options.
"You've known me for too long." I laugh and he joins.
"No, not long enough." he turns to me and smile and I can feel my body being pulled to his. Like a magnet that's being kept away from it's other half. It might be my off state of mind but I have the sudden urge to kiss him. But is that okay? Would that be bad? I-
Before I can complete my thought his lips are on mine. Warm and soft they make my whole body relax. Our tongues soon interlace which is done in affection, not lust, deepening my relaxation and comfort. I put my fingers through his hair as his hand rests gently on my waste. Without a care as to what may happen after, I let the moment consume me and keep it going for as long as I can.
