Chapter 11: Date Night
Rory's P.O.V.
I yawn and Harry looks at me. "You tired?" he chuckles.
"Yeah that was a long day."
"It was fun though." he smiles.
"Yeah it was. Roller coasters are the best." I smile back and check my watch. "Oh I have to go." I say realizing I'm supposed to meet Jess for dinner in twenty minutes.
"Let me give you a ride." he offers but I shake my head.
"No thanks, I'll take a cab."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, thank you again for today." I say and he smiles again.
"Anytime. Thank you for joining me."
"Of course. Maybe we could see each other again at some point."
"I'd like that." he tells me.
"Well I better get going. I'll see you later."
"See you later." he says and doesn't take his eyes off me as I turn and walk away in the direction of the restaurant that Jess and I agreed on before waving down a cab. When the car pulls up to the entrance I see that it's brightly lit in a welcoming glow. Jess is standing outside with his hands in his pockets.
"Hey." he greets me.
"Hi." I say and smile.
"Should we go inside?"
"Yeah." I say and he moves aside to let me go first.
"How many?" the lady at the front desk asks.
"Two." Jess tells her. She grabs two menus and steps in front of us.
"Follow me please." she says and leads the way to our table. We sit down and she places the menus in front of us, even the tables glow with two candles lit on each end, in fact the whole interior shines bright with soft candles and lamps.
"This place is beautiful." I tell him my thoughts.
"Yeah it is. You like it? I wasn't sure if this was your kind of thing, knowing that you go to Luke's most of the time." he laughs a little and I join him.
"No this is really nice. Good choice." I reply and open the menu.
"What can I get you two to drink?" the waiter asks as he approaches.
"Two glasses of your finest wine?" Jess asks for my approval and I nod.
"Coming right up." the waiter says.
"Fancy." I say to Jess once the waiter leaves.
"I guess." he smiles.
"This doesn't seem like a place you'd take a girl to."
"When I actually care to impress them I do." he chuckles.
"It's just different then I remember you being."
"Well people can change."
"Indeed they can." our eyes meet and he smiles again.
"So what sounds good?" he asks, looking back at the menu.
"I'm thinking pasta." I look at my menu at the pasta options.
"I'm thinking steak." he tells me.
"Well that part of you hasn't changed." I comment.
"Nothing could change my love for steak."
"Your drinks." The waiter says and places two glasses of red wine on the table in front of each of us.
