Chapter 18: A Plan (Part 3)

Rory's P.O.V.

Panic still surging through my veins, I look at Stacy with pleading eyes for her to think of something to do.

"Tell Logan he can't come over." she orders me quickly.

I type a message to Logan as fast as my fingers can: I'm at a friend's house and I don't feel well. Let's just meet tomorrow.

I show Stacy the message and she nods in approval. He instantly replies: I don't care, we need to talk. I'm coming over and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

"He's still coming and he says there's nothing I can do to stop him." panic in my voice gets stronger.

"Try telling Jess to not come."

I do as she says and type the same message to Jess that I did to Logan but he replies with: You promised we'd hangout tonight and I don't like having promises broken. Besides I wanna be there if you're not feeling well.

I show Stacy and her face goes blank with panic that matches mine. "What do I do? What do I do? They're all going to hate me. I didn't even invite Logan over so why the hell is he coming?"

Just as she's about to respond I hear a knock on my door in my room next to Stacy's.

"That must be Logan." I sprint out of her room and see Logan standing in the hall, his arm raised to knock again. "Logan?" I ask and he spins around to look at me with an unreadable expression on his face. He has to be drunk still.

"Ace?" he asks and I nod.

"Let's go into my room so we don't disturb anyone."I walk over to my door and don't look at him as I put my key in the lock and enter my room. He follows closely behind. I flip the light switch on and turn around to face him. "Logan, please leave. I really can't do this tonight. Come back tomorrow and we'll discuss whatever you want to discuss."

"I won't have the courage to do it tomorrow." he states, quietly.

"What do you  mean? Why not?"

"I only get this brave when I'm drunk, when I'm sober I'll be too scared and I won't get this opportunity again."

"Logan, please." I plead but he shakes his head.

"No Ace, I need to say what I have to say."

I can tell there is no getting him to leave unless he does what he wants, he's always been especially stubborn when intoxicated.

"Fine, but make it quick." I beg, hoping he finishes and leaves before Jess arrives.

"I-" he begins before I hear a knock on the door and I freeze. Jess. Logan. "Who's that so late at night?" he asks but I don't move or say anything. "Are you going to get that...?"

"No. I mean yes. I mean...." I battle with myself on what to do. I quickly pull my phone out and message Stacy: Go distract Jess, he's in the hall. Please. I need help.

I begin to wonder why she hadn't followed me out of her room to help but I figure she was just trying to help by not intervening.

She replies with a simple 'ok' and I sigh in relief a little.

"It's probably just room service, ignore that." I finally respond to Logan who is looking at me strangely as if I've gone crazy.

"Room service this late at night?" he questions, clearly not believing me. Even in his drunken state he's still sharp and deceptive.
