Chapter 39: Sea Turtles And Junk Food Feasts
Rory's P.O.V.
I gape at my father who seems confused as to why we are all making the faces we are at him.
"What?" he asks, looking around at us. My mom is still shaking her head in disbelief and my mouth continues to hang open.
"Chris, think about the question you just asked people who have no insight as to why you're saying that." my mom explains.
"Ohhhhh you guys haven't heard why I'm stuck here?"
We all shake our head and his cheeks flare with embarrassment. I start to laugh. "Dad, please explain what the hell that was all about."
When he finishes his story we are all in tears laughing so hard, my stomach aches from my muscles continuously tensing. "I can't believe you got yourself into this. Well I kind of can, it is you." Lane giggles.
"What's that supposed to mean?" dad asks in defense and my laughter continues.
"I mean we could help he, he does need it." Zach says lowly, afraid of his wife's reaction.
"Zachary!" she scolds and he quivers, realizing this is what would happen.
"What? The guy needs help. It'll just be some harmless help to get him out of here." he continues.
"You know that might not be such a bad idea." Logan adds and I look over at him in surprise. But then I think of his partying history and realize this probably wouldn't be a new experience for him.
"Maybe it's not such a bad idea." I submit to their thought process. Both Lane and mom snap their heads at me and I shrug. "I mean, he does need the help. And who knows? It could be fun."
"Fun?" Lane and mom ask simultaneously.
"Yeah. Why not?" Zach states.
"I mean, I've done worse things." my mom throws in and I snicker a bit.
"Lane?" Chris asks, in a hopeful tone.
"What about the babies?" she reminds us, worry thick in her voice.
"We'll smoke outside, and we can take turns staying sober so one of us can take care of them. Then when they go to bed that person can join us." Zach says.
"Common Lane, be a little wild. You're 22, act like it." Logan states and I nudge him a little.
"Okay okay. Fine. But I'm taking the first sober shift."
"Deal." I assure her and she smiles, uneasiness written all over her face.
"Shall we go to the beach for now?" mom asks and everyone nods in excitement, the previous uncertainty fading away.
"Let me get the kids in their swim suits and we'll meet you down there." Lane replies and we all get ready.
"Oh my gosh the water is perfect." I sigh as my toes get washed by a wave.
"Is it cold?" mom asks and I shake my head.
"No not at all."
"So you're happy?" she asks me again.
"I am." I smile and she finally seems content with my answer.
"What are you two waiting for?" I hear dad yell from behind us before he suddenly throws us both over his shoulders and slams us into the water. We laugh and splash him in playful anger. The warm water feels wonderful, the sun seems to give me energy as it shines on my pale skin, it's heat running through my body. I can smell the salt from the ocean but it's not an overwhelming sensation. The water is crystal clear and small multicolored fish swim around us.
"This is the definition of paradise." mom states as she floats with her eyes shut closed. "I can't believe you were going to keep this all to yourself." she tells dad and he puts his hands up in defense.
"Oh my gosh, look!" I point towards the ground and a sea turtle the size of the dining room table swims by.
"Oh wow!" mom exclaims as she comes closer. The turtle circles us playfully and we swim around with it, staying by its side and following like a little puppy. I go under water and come face to face with it before it encircles me once again. I extend my hand to touch its shell and it welcomes the embrace. My mind is rushing with excitement, to see a wild sea turtle swim with us makes this trip that much more perfect.
We spend the rest of the afternoon on the beach, the turtle finally departed while I played with the babies on the shore.
"Wow, can you believe that?" dad asks, still flabbergasted.
"I can't that was so amazing! It was so beautiful." mom replies and I smile from the memory.
"Okay, who's hungry?" Logan asks as I hear his stomach rumble.
"Sounds like you are." I laugh.
Mom and I look at each other and smile, knowing we are going to have a junk food feast. We run straight to the kitchen and I get a pot to start boiling water for mac and cheese. She searches the freezer for any frozen deliciousness and comes out with pizza roles, fish sticks, and tater tots. She pours the entire contents of each onto a baking tray before starting to preheat the oven.
"Oh I found spaghettios!" I tell her before taking three cans and pouring them into another pot to heat up on the stove.
"What in the world are you making in here?" dad enters.
"Uh only the best food on the planet." mom tells him as if he should know better.
"Certainly five star cuisine." I add.
"Spaghettios and fish sticks constitute five star cuisine?"
"Yep." we both say and he shakes his head before leaving. We look at each other and smile a little as the oven beeps, telling us it's ready for the food to be baked.

Hello lovelies!
Okay I have a question for you. Do you want to see more detailed, intimate scenes between our couples or would you rather I keep it how it's been and just insinuate what's happening without describing anything. I won't judge you in any way, details like that can add spice to a book but I'm not sure if you want to hear about our Gilmore Girls' sex lives haha. Comment below what you think and please don't be ashamed of what your opinion is. I am good with both ways so please tell me genuinly what you want. I can even do both, some detailed and some insinuated. Just let me know :)
Also, the part about the sea turtle is a true story. When I was in Hawaii my mom, stepdad, and I were swimming in the water and a giant sea turtle came and swam with us. It has to be one of my favorite memories ever, so spectacular!
Okay, thank you all so much for the support you've given this story. It really does mean so much to me. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you all enjoying the book as much as I love writing it. Thank you.
Okie dokie, I hope you all have a wonderful day or night wherever you are.
I love you all!
XOXO
