James woke up in the middle of the night with his head on Severus' chest. When he finally brought himself to open his eyes, he looked up at Severus' face and stared at him. Just stared for as long as he could.
He stared and noticed the scars under his chin and on his shoulders.
He couldn't bring himself to stop staring. And really, he didn't want to. James liked staring at him. It made him feel good. But he didn't quite know why he was staring at him.
He didn't really care to figure it out. But, it eventually got too hard not to try to understand why James was looking at him.
Maybe he was just pleasing to look at? Was it his eyes? His freckles? His scars? His lips? And then, it hit him.
'Oh my merlin.' James realized. 'I fancy Severus Snape.'
