Severus leaned back on the chair in his book shop, opening up a copy of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
He was, of course, playing his Queen record. Emma was manning the counter for him so he could read his favorite book. Wilhelm was off doing Merlin knows what.
Severus looked up when he heard the bell above the door chime, and smiled softly. "Hello, James." He said.
"Hello, Snape." James responded.
Emma's jaw practically dropped as she stared at him. She mouthed, 'since when has he been here?'
Severus rolled his eyes. "Have you caught up with Lily lately?" He asked James, "Apparently, she and Mary are dating."
"Oh, yes, I have! I believe Mary proposed, too!" James responded.
"Good for them!"
As James browsed the shop, Emma scurried over to Severus.
"When did he get here?" She asked, "And since when are you on good terms with him?"
"Don't know when he got here, but I first saw him about two weeks ago. And we're not on good terms." Severus sighed.
"If you're not on good terms, then why are you being nice to each-other?"
"Because I'd feel bad if I was a jerk to him."
Emma nodded. "Makes sense." She said.
When James had found the book, he set it down on Severus' desk, and Severus quickly rung it up for him.
"Have a good day!" Severus smiled.
"You too, Snape!" James hollered.
Emma sighed. "How many hours until we can get food?"
Severus rolled his eyes.
"I'll just take you now." He said, his arms crossed over his chest.
They ended up going to Severus' apartment to eat. They had whatever was in Severus' fridge, and Emma ate almost half of it.
"How can you eat that much, and still not get tired?" Severus stared at her.
"I need to store energy." Emma said back, "It's for Quidditch."
Severus continued to stare at her as he ate his food. When he finished, he picked up their plates and silverware and set them in the sink.
