Severus ripped open an envelope and took the letter out.

Dear Severus,

I'm sure you've heard at this point that James is in Nafplio. I've only realized this since four days ago and thought I must tell you as soon as possible. I understand that Nafplio is really quite small. Have you seen him there? If so, please let him know that Sirius misses him.

Lily
(P.S.- I really hope that you are getting along well with him. I could see you two as wonderful friends.)

He sighed quietly and closed the letter, humming a soft, calm tune. And then, the bell over the door chimed.

Severus immediately looked up and smiled when he saw James. "Good morning, Potter." He smiled, "You're here early."

James' face lit up with joy at the sight of him. "Yeah," he said, "well, I just have a kind of terrible roommate, and this place is pretty calm."

Severus frowned, "what do you mean by 'terrible roommate'?"

"He's quite loud, and sort of annoying. I just don't really care for him, y'know?" James slowly browsed through the comic book section.

Severus nodded. "Yeah, I know. Actually, my old roommate from school was pretty annoying."

James hummed a response as he continued walking around the comic aisle.

"Oh, Black says he misses you."

James quickly looked up at him. "Hm?"

"Black says he misses you." Severus repeated.

James smiled a little. There was a moment of silence between them for a few seconds.

"Are you okay?" Severus asked, looking genuinely concerned.

James sighed softly. "Yup. I'm fine."

"You don't seem fine."

James looked at him, observing the worried and caring expression he had on. It was incredibly hard to dislike him in that moment.

"Don't lie. Are you okay?"

"It's my mum." James whispered.

"What happened with your mum?"

"She got attacked a few days ago. By the death-eaters. I think she'll make it, but I'm worried."

Severus frowned. "I'm sorry. I'm sure she'll be okay. If you need to talk about it, I'm right here. Same if you need a hug or anything."

James smiled softly. "Thanks." He hummed.
