"What?" Severus stopped. James continued staring at the bed for a moment.

"Well, I suppose it's fine to sleep next to each other... me and Sirius used to sleep in the same bed some nights." James said.

Severus stayed frozen as he stared at him. "No, I'll just sleep on the couch."

"I'm not letting you sleep on the couch! We're here for three weeks!"

"Well your not sleeping on the couch for three weeks either!"

"So why not just sleep together? I mean, not like sleep together—"

"Yeah, I know what you meant." Severus sighed as he leaned his head on his hand. Can't we spell another one?"

"Room's not big enough."

"Ugh. Well, let's just not worry about that right now, I'm just gonna finish making dinner."

They sat down at the couch and ate their grilled cheese together as Severus read one of the books he brought with them. He had set it on the table, and James was attempting to read along with him. Severus laughed whenever James would complain that he was turning the pages too fast, and even a few times flipped the page back and let him keep reading.

James saw the word 'potioneer' and started talking about his dad and his job as a potioneer. Severus found it very interesting. James continued rambling even as Severus washed the dishes and, to James' slight surprise, Severus listened carefully the whole time. He would comment on a few things that he found especially interesting, or was able to connect with his aunt's past career as a chemistry teacher at a Muggle school in London.

James found those comments interesting too, and would get sidetracked asking questions about his aunt. Severus had to remind him what he was talking about a few times.
