Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
"When will she wake up?" A man asked.
"I don't know." A woman replied, setting a clipboard down onto a hard surface.
My mind started to work properly once again, noticing everything that was happening in the room.
I lifted my eyes open, staring at the bright ceiling of the hospital.
"Hey, Jung Soojung, you're awake?" A man said, walking over to my side.
I glanced over at who it was.
Lee Soo Man.
"Ahjussi... what are you doing here?" I whispered.
It felt painful to just talk.
My lungs felt like it was full of sand, my throat dry as a desert.
"You don't know how worried everyone was." He pitied, rubbing my hand.
The nurse went out to notify the doctor that I was officially awake.
"Soojung-ah, why didn't you call us that something was wrong? Are you... insane?" He scolded.
My blood boiled in fury.
Didn't call, my ass.
"I couldn't even call." I whispered.
"You know the phone call you made to the police? It was traced back to your phone."
A quietly gasped.
My phone?
It was Seungho's phone, not mine.
It was obviously Seungho's.
"...but..."
"No 'buts'. I'm not here to scold you or anything. I just wanted to see how you're doing. When you are feeling better, we'll fly back to Korea." He swallowed his saliva.
I thought I was going to murder him at that point.
But I couldn't.
The doctor walked in with the nurse at his side.
"Hello, Mr. Lee and Krystal. I'm Dr. Sanders, and I'll be Krystal's doctor for her time being. Do you need a translator or can you understand me?" He asked, sitting in a chair next to my bed.
Dr. Sanders looked like an average American doctor.
Brown hair with grey streaks, clear skin with wrinkles, and glasses.
He looked like he was in his late 40's.
"Um, I think we will be ok." Lee Soo Man-ssi broke out in his horrible English.
Feeling that I was going to listen to a boring conversation between the two, I closed my eyes and went off into my own thoughts.
Well, I ended up sleeping for an hour before Lee Soo Man-ssi woke me up.
"Hey, Soojung." He shook me awake.
My eyelids fluttered open.
I looked at him with a blank expression.
"What's with you and Jongin?" He asked, clasping his hands together.
"...?"
"Damn it, stupid kids. They probably know."
"What? Know what?"
He glared at me.
"Something. You don't need to know."
He straightened his pants and stood up.
"Rest. I'm going to get your discharge papers ready."
Okay...
I waited a little while, waiting for Lee Soo Man to come back with discharge files and my luggage.
Finally, after waiting ten excruciating minutes, a knock came on my door.
"Come in." I answered.
Lilee, the cop who shot me, came in with papers and a clipboard in her hand.
"Okay, Krystal, you claimed that you came with Kim Jong In to the U.S., correct?" She immediately asked.
Hold up.
She just came in and started questioning me?
She didn't even say 'hello'.
"...Yes?"
"Oh, good. He's arrested now."
I shot up from my hospital bed.
"Wait, Jongin? He's arrested? Why?" I didn't stop asking questions.
What is going on?
Lilee just immediately becomes cocky when she steps foot into my room, and Jongin is now arrested?
"Soojung."
"God, what do you want?!"
"Look at me." she whispered.
I avoided her stare at me.
"LOOK. AT. ME." She harshly said.
Giving up, I looked into her eyes.
Her mouth started moving, mouthing something I couldn't quite comprehend.
"Help me."
