1 1/2 years later:

"I wish we could spend the rest of our lives like this." He smiled, putting his palm onto of mine.

I stared at him.

His brown eyes sparkling with life.

The eyes that I've always loved.

I went back to staring at the ocean.

"What's wrong?" He asked, scooting closer to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

"When was the last time you said 'I love you' to me?" I whispered, pushing his arm off my shoulder.

"Soojung, you already know I love you. Why do I have to say it? I'm already expressing it." He shrugged.

His phone rang in his pocket.

"Hold on a minute."

He stood up and went a bit far away from me and picked up his phone.

I could barely make out what he was saying.

"Kiyoung..."

"No, I don't love... her."

"What? Don't leave my side."

"I love you. Only you."

He bid goodbye to the mysterious person and walked back over to where I was sitting.

Curious, I asked him who he was talking to.

"My mom." His voice sounded a bit shaky.

"But your mom's name isn't 'Kiyoung'." I stated.

He bit his lower lip.

"Plus, why would you call your mom 'Kiyoung' instead of 'Eomma'?"

He suddenly pulled me in for a kiss.

"But you know that I only love you."

And I almost believed that.
