Salem's Pov
I knew exactly what was going on. A) Charlie was taken back to Luke's ship. B) Charlie left Connor a letter. And C) That letter was passed onto Percy, Ethan and Bea. While Bea was reading the paper, I quietly followed Percy to tell Nikola and Beckendorf the message Charlie left them. I may or may not have gotten my hands on the letter.
While I was following Percy, I noticed everything going on around me. People usually don't notice me, so I use it to my advantage. I sneak up on them and scare them. I think people don't notice me because I'm a child of Hypnos, so that makes me quiet and tired all the time. Not so much tired but I am always quiet.
I could see Ethan looking for Connor to pass on the message as well, luckily for me though, Connor was going to be in a meeting in the Big House for the next hour, and I wanted to see it all go down. Same goes with Bea, Chiron was talking with Connor. I continued to follow Percy until we got to the forge. He found Beckendorf.
"Hey Beckendorf? You in here?" I heard Percy ask, I moved to get a better angle on this confrontation, I know it's going to get emotional. After Percy told Beckendorf what Charlie left him in the note, and a few tears from both sides of the party, I followed Percy to find Nikola. This time I followed the conversation more closely, before falling asleep. But can you blame me? Percy is so boring when he talks.
After what must have been only a few hours, I woke up to a completely different camp. I don't know how to explain it but everything was more tense. "Hey, Salem right? Chiron needs you in the Big House." Someone said to my right. I looked over and nodded before walking away.
"Salem, come sit. We have a matter that we need to discuss." Chiron said, motioning at the table. All of the cabin counselors were there. "What's going on?" I asked, looking at Chiron. "It turns out that some of our campers have been working for Kronos' army." Chiron said, and that's when chaos broke out.
Everyone was yelling and accusing each other of being a traitor. "Silence! We need to handle this professionally! I know who the traitors are." Chiron yelled, slamming his fist on the table. No one had ever seen him that mad. "Ella, Liana and Victoria are all traitors. Charlie has been taken by them to forcibly work for Kronos. And as for Ethan, he is now on our side, you will welcome him and work with him." Chiron said, letting the new kid into the room.
Percy spoke up from his sea, "Charlie left me, Ethan and Bea a letter. In the letter she said that Luke bore the curse of Achilles, so now he's invincible. She also said she was the child of the prophecy? What prophecy haven't we been told about?" Percy asked, looking at Annabeth. In response, Annabeth looked at Chiron who then nodded. "Follow me, seaweed brain, we're going to get that prophecy." Annabeth said, leaving the room.
While Percy and Annabeth were leaving Travis yelled out after them, "No funny business you two!" Percy looked back at Travis and flipped him off while the rest of us laughed. It was a few minutes before they came back. "Read the prophecy dude." Beckendorf said, looking at Percy.
"A half blood of the eldest dogs?" Percy said, second guessing himself. "Gods. A half blood of the eldest gods." Annabeth said, correcting him. Percy nodded and restarted. "A half blood of the eldest gods, shall reach sixteen against all odds..." Percy looked up, concerned before continuing.
"And see the world in an endless sleep." Percy said, before looking at me. I shook my head and he continued. "A hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap... Is my sister going to die?" Percy asked, looking up at Chiron. "No one knows for sure Percy, keep reading." Chiron said, crossing his arms. "A single choice shall end their days, Olympus to preserve or raze." Percy finished, looking up. "Read it again, you went too slow." Connor said, looking concerned.
"A half blood of the eldest gods,
Shall reach sixteen against all odds.
And see the world in an endless sleep,
A hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap.
A single choice shall end their days,
Olympus to preserve or raze"The room went silent. Someone was going to die, and that someone is the camp's only hope, and she isn't here. The fate of Olympus and the entire world was in the hands of Charlotte Jackson. "Charlie is going to die?" Connor asked, looking at Percy. Percy just looked back and shook his head, "No, she can't die. She's not going to die. I won't let her." Percy said looking at the paper in his hands.
After a few minutes of silence, we heard Clarisse get her dagger out. We all looked in her direction before she spoke up and said, "How do we know we can actually trust this guy? He worked for Luke, who's to say he doesn't anymore?" Ethan looked up, and he looked like he'd been crying. "You don't know, and I won't tell you too. I know what I've done. I know I'm not a good person, but Charlie trusts me." Ethan said, looking at the paper in Percy's hands.
"Okay, the prophecy said that Charlie would preserve or raise olympus, doesn't that mean everything might be okay?" I asked, looking around. "No,it's r-a-z-e raze, not r-a-i-s-e raise. That raze means to destroy, obliterate, to leave nothing." Annabeth said, looking around the table. "Oh." I said, looking back at her. How the hell did I get this unlucky? I mean, to both be a halfblood, and to be born during this prophecy? How badly did I fuck up in my last life?
Just then someone burst into the room, "The border! Someone's here!" Jude yelled, before running out again. Everyone looked at each other before running out the door and to the border. I was in the back so I couldn't see much but I heard yelling. "What's going on?!" a boy yelled, "How?" One of the Stolls said. "Percy! You're gonna wanna see this!" Annabeth yelled.
I moved next to Jude, "What happened?" I asked, looking at him. "I don't know, I just was told to go to the Big House." Jude said, looking back at me. He seemed to be a little older and was maybe two inches taller. "Who's your godly parent? I've seen you around and I know your name because my friend just won't stop talking about you." I said, looking for Kat.
"Oh, my dads hermes. I can run pretty fast and I'm good with a football, a real football." He said, I noticed he had an accent, the same as Bea's. "You mean a soccer ball? It's not football, it's soccer." I said, looking at him weirdly. Why the hell does Kat like him? "No, it's football." He said, looking back at me weirdly. "You're in the U.S. now man, it's soccer." I said, walking away.
