LENNON adjusted her ponytail before grabbing her blue light back. She was inside a room that looked like a child's bedroom. Of course, the drawings on the walls were barely noticeable, as a long time had passed since children lived there. Or anyone, for that matter. The bed was unmade, and there were some toys scattered around the floor. She guessed no one had bothered to clean the house after the Crains' death. Her head moved around with the music, but her eyes stayed on the light in case Vecna was near. The other three were in different parts of the house, doing the same as her. All without shoes, only socks, so they wouldn't make loud noises that would catch the monster's attention. The house was in complete silence, except for the music that only the Mayfield sisters could hear from their walkmans.
Lennon turned around, just in time to see Erica and Lucas standing by the door way. Max was making her way towards them when Erica held up her small notebook, that said, "Found Vecna." They followed her to what used to be the living room. Max stepped forward, her light brightening as it got closer to the one Erica had abandoned there. Signalling Vecna's presence. Turning around, she noticed Erica writing something else, "Phase one?" She showed Lennon, who nodded slowly. Erica then left the house after nodding once at her, going to the park in front of the house, where she would send a message to the Upside Down. Just like they had done at the Wheeler's, when Lennon had been interrogated.
Lennon stared at her sister with worry, noticing Lucas' own eyes on her. She shook her head slightly, reminding herself of the task in hand. Lennon grabbed her own small notebook, writing in it, "Now, we wait." The younger teens nodded at her in understanding. She smiled softly, trying to make them feel better about the whole situation. Lucas left the sisters alone, sitting besides a window to watch over his sister, who was still outside. Trying to reach the others. Meanwhile, Max slowly approached her sister, before wrapping her arms around her waist. She hid her head on her sister's shoulder, sighing in relief when Lennon hugged her back. She didn't wonder about the tight grip Lennon had in her, because she was doing the same. Just in case it was their last hug.
Pulling away, Lennon caressed her face with a smile. Max smiled too, kissing her cheek before walking away. She knew that if she stayed with Lennon five more seconds, she would break down crying. Max felt like an hypocrite, because she had told her friends she could go through it, even if she knew she couldn't. She had hope, but still, she was not ready for the what if. In other words, she wasn't ready to die. None of them were, really. They were just kids! They had barely lived. Yet, they had more stories to tell than people older than them. It would be awesome, if it wasn't because none of their stories were truly happy.
Now sitting in front of Lucas, Max didn't know what to do to calm her nerves. She was thankful that at least she had her music, because the silence would be killing her. She didn't know how Lucas hadn't felt asleep yet, as the only light provided to them during that night, was the soft blue that they carried to every room. Bored out of her mind, she decided to write in her notebook. Lucas glanced at her curiously, waiting for her to show him what she had written, "Hi." She smiled, making him smile too as her sweetness.
