My eyes were heavy when I tried to open them.
I could move my arm a bit but my whole body still felt so tired and for some odd reason my shoulder felt sore.
"Stop crying shes not dead."
I could hear things a bit clearer now. My mind was still slightly foggy so it took a moment before I heard a soft whimpering.
"B-But I-I-" The voice was so quiet.
"Enough. Just don't do that again. When I said sleep I did not mean the kind you wake from."
And then the whimpering turned into full-on sobs.
"Be quiet brat. You're lucky she isn't dead."
I finally managed to open my eyes and tried to get up but my body went right back down. I hit something soft but I looked around the room in a panic.
I was alive.
"Calm down Y/N you're alright." Someone grabbed onto my shoulder and I shot my eyes in their direction.
When I realized who it was my heart calmed down.
He was the first thing I saw. His eyes were frantic and his hair a disheveled mess. I had never seen Dottore look so nervous before. When he realized I was alright he seemed to calm down himself. His grip on me only tightened.
Then my heart began to speed right back up.
The words Scaramouche had spoken to me were still playing in my head.
Did he know?
Was this it? Was he going to kill me?
"My god I'm so sorry this was all my fault." He leaned his head down his hair covering his face.
His apology was like a kick in the gut.
"Huh..?"
I looked around the room. I was still in the daycare but--
"The kids!" I gasped out.
"They're fine. They got picked up. We made sure everything was fine." He said reassuringly pushing me back down into the couch.
"We?"
"Yes, we princess."
My heart leapt from my chest as someone approached me from behind. I waited as they stopped at my side and looked down at me with an apologetic smile.
