After breakfast was finished I returned to my room. Pierro had seemed satisfied with eating in peace. He was probably feeling very accomplished with what he had done for the day. Kaeya however looked more nervous and upset. He would receive no sympathy from me after all thats how I should be feeling.

The nice part about the silent breakfast was it gave me time to think about my next moves. Seeing Pierro again after so long and Kaeya's betrayal were both major shocks but nothing I couldn't get over.

That however did not mean I forgave either of them I just needed to start planning my escape. If I sat around wallowing in my own self-pity I'd never get that done.

There were a few problems with making plans. To begin, the daycare was now under his control. I could not do anything to stop that here unless I could negotiate with him which was unlikely. Then there was the issue with me. I had three broken fingers and could barely walk. I knew Pierro would not give me any medicine or creams for my injuries. He had stuff that could fix my fingers in a matter of days if he wanted to.

As a kid I had broken a lot of bones and ended up with a lot of bruises. So it was important for my training to have those kinds of things handy.

But this was different. The last thing he'd want is for me to heal quicker especially when he knew I was not fighting to stay with him.

I sat down on the edge of my bed and looked out the window.

So far what I understood from the conversation with Pierro is I am here because I am his daughter. Pierro had no other children and he never cared to. He was also very rooted in tradition. Pierro wanted his successor to be a member of the family and since I was the last of his family standing that meant me.

That was one of the many reasons I had left to begin with. I had no interest in living the life he wanted me to live. Day by day everything was planned in advance by him. Control was the biggest thing I lacked living with him and it was something I refused to give up now. After getting a taste of what life could be like without him I would fight to get it back.

There was a soft knocking at the door that caused me to still.

I didn't answer at first but then there was another knock.

"Come in."

The door opened and I wished I had kept my mouth shut.

"Hey..."

He looked just as nervous as he had earlier.
