The date had ended well. Dottore brought me home around 11 and we were now standing by my open front door.
I leaned against the door frame holding my purse behind me.
"Thank you for the nice dinner," I said sweetly.
"I'd love to take you out again if you're still interested."
I nodded my head and Dottore moved a little closer.
"Just to get one thing straight though..." Dottore was towering over me now and his eyes were staring directly into mine.
"You've been accepting these dinners because you're interested am I correct?"
My heart skipped a few beats and I clenched my purse handle.
"And what of you? What's your motivation behind asking."
Dottores lip twitched into a smile and he leaned in. Dottores face was so close to mine.
"Is it so wrong of me to try my luck with a beautiful lady?"
I covered my mouth with a hand from embarrassment.
My god, was he always this charming?
"No, I guess it's not," I replied with a chuckle.
We both stared at one another for a little too long. Eventually, Dottore sighed and backed up a bit.
"Well... I should be going..." I watched his eyes flicker to the side.
They stayed trained on the side of my house for a brief second.
"But before I do can I ask you something?" He looked back at me now and I nodded my head.
"You don't happen to have wild animals running around here do you?"
I cast a glance in the direction he was previously looking at.
But there was something.
Whatever he had seen had ran off.
"Yes sometimes," I replied trying to think back.
It was true. I did live in the country after all so it wasn't unusual.
"I see well that's good. I just saw something move by must have been a raccoon." He said brushing it off.
"Don't worry I'll be alright," I said reassuringly.
Dottore gave me a soft smile, "Alright. I'll see you soon then. Good night if you need anything call me."
My heart fluttered and I nodded, "Good night and I will."
He took his leave from there. When his car pulled out of the driveway I returned inside and shook my head. Maybe I should leave some fruit out for the animal.
