The powers of the great calamity, based upon someone's heart.

The calamity powers have been passed down for generations by the kindest of human kind. Only the purest of hearts are capable of wielding such great power and able to control it.

In the wrong hands, the power can be unstable and become very disastrous.

Sasha's POV

"Oh my frog!" I froze in disbelief. "I have like a itching feeling in my head that the castle used to not be as dark and grim before."

"Sasha, dearie!" My mom reaching my side, catching her breath. "What's the matter?"

"It- it's uh um," I pointed at the castle, trying to explain my reasoning, "Has the castle always looked like that?"

"Is that what's been bugging you?" My mom wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Aww! Of course! The castle has always looked that way."

I felt like a complete and utter idiot, asking such something profound. I still felt like something was not right, but I decided to run with mom's story.

"Phew." I let out a long breath. "For a second, I thought I was losing it. Crazy, right?"

I watched my mom closely and listened for anything suspicious. She laughed. From what I could tell sounded forced and completely phony. "That is definitely hysterical! You will have to tell your father that one. I'm sure he will get a hoot out of that one."

Father? Something about that rang an unsettling bell in my mind.

"Now, come on!" My mom taking my arm, dragging me away from the almost familiar castle. "We need to go celebrate your success of becoming General Yunan's second in command!"

I just let it happen, not questioning a single weird thing the rest of the evening.

Late in the night after my parents left me in my new cabin built for one, I stared at the ceiling conflicted.

The castle seemed familiar, but it also felt like something was eerily wrong. It feels like something or someone was drawing me close to the castle, but what or more importantly who?

I don't remember anything. All I know is that I woke up this morning with a group of knights, and now I am Commander Sasha. My parents seemed tense before their departure.

There is definitely something more going on, and I am not gonna lay around. I have to get in that castle and find out what the hell is going on!

I unlocked the locker holding my brand new armor, signifying my new title. I adjusted the new spiky metal shoulder pads, strapping them on tight. I clipped the thin red cape together. I grabbed two dual blades custom made for me to match the armor. I tied my hair up high, wrapping a chain with a small pink gem in the center around my forehead and putting a helmet to top everything off.

Okay, let's do this.

I slipped out of my cabin, panning the central town area to avoid any possible patrol. I stayed out of sight, hiding in hay stacks for horses and behind the closest object like lamp posts.

At last, I reached the castle. It was even more creepy at dark. The gates were locked with spotlights rushing back and forth.

Hmm.

I checked high and low for a way of getting in without being captured. I can't afford to be captured and not figure anything out.

Then, in the distance, a guard in a solid black robe whistling and closing in on me.
