Through the Fire and the Flames

Got paid today
Made a big purchase only to regret it
Few hours later
And my house is up in smoke

Is this a fucking joke?
Everything always goes so well only to burn down
30 seconds of a call just to rush over to save the kids crying

The terror in their eyes
As everything we own is lost
I was just here not that long ago

How could something so bad
Happen to people so good
Kids so innocent

Never forget this moment
My mother has been through this twice now
Everyone was finally at peace

3 fire trucks later and still no answers
An electric heater?
In the wall?

Devastation and loss
Nothing could prepare me for this cost
As I watch the black smoke trickle out the roof

Open a go fund me but its the week of thanksgiving 
Nothing to be thankful for other than the safety of the kiddos
The world is cruel and unforgiving
