"That will be all. Take it easy over the next few weeks, okay? Your rib is still healing; any existential injury could permanently damage it, so please be cautious. Have a good rest of your day, Miss Delilah."
"Take care of yourselves, and thank you for all the help," she gratefully said, standing outside of her hospital room. The doctor waved at her as she turned to leave, sighing rather heavily. A nurse shuffled next to her, staring straight at Lilah's back.
"You're glad she's leaving, right doctor?"
"Shush. Pipe down, would you? Don't ruin my image here."
"Right, sorry ma'am," the nurse apologized.
"But...You're right. I can't even begin to comprehend how a sweet woman such as herself could find love in such a disgusting human being. It's unheard of."
"I couldn't agree more. He is too cruel of a man to have something as precious as her affection."
The doctor sighed, a smile forming on her face. "Maybe she'll be the one."
"Huh? What do you mean, ma'am?"
"Maybe that girl will be the one to turn his cold heart into something beautiful. You never know what love can do to a person, and maybe, just maybe...He'll change into a better man."
The doctor laughed at her own words and turned away from Lilah, who was still walking towards the exit of the hospital. "God, what am I saying..."
She looked around at all the nurses, who stared at her with wide eyes and shocked expressions.
"What is it?" She snapped. "Get back to work, all of you!"
They nodded frantically, bowing their heads in shame. "Of course, ma'am."
Lilah's relief as she reached the exit of the infirmary came in the form of a content smile. She had been in care for the past two weeks and was just permitted to leave a day ago. In that time, Hisoka had visited her every day, mostly just staying with her as she slept, and greeting her when she woke. They never had any in-depth conversations, not that they needed any.
One thing Hisoka had mentioned is that he had business coming up in Yorknew City. Since Lilah didn't know exactly where she was planning to go, he suggested that it'd be a good idea to head there together. She obviously agreed.
Lilah pushed open the double doors, letting out a small scoff as he stood there, eyeing his nails lazily. Picking up his head, he saw her standing in front of him, hands on her hips in a playful fashion. A grin spread on his face as he eyed her choice of clothing quickly, and then snapped his eyes to lock with hers.
She was in a black bodysuit that was accessorized with her signature skirt, and a light shamrock belt on her waistband. Long black sleeves ran down her arms, which were now folded over her upper torso. "So we're into fashion," she laughed, noticing their outfit likeness.
"I did try. But I must say, you do look rather beautiful." He tipped her chin to kiss her lips.
She smiled at his hand placement on her waist. "Can't keep your hands off me, can you?"
"Mm, I could. But that'd be no fun, my darling."
She laughed. "You look rather handsome as well."
He paused for a moment. With a sly smile, he pulled her closer to his body. "You're such a tease."
"I've got a few things I need to get before we leave. Care to escort me?"
He took her hand and kissed the top gently. "Of course."
