From that day to the thirty-first of August, all Lilah did was gamble at the casino. She was placed against Yorknew's best gamblers on her third day, amassing billions of Jenny in less than twenty-four whole hours. Yukari was ecstatic to watch her gamble every day, and the two became quite close with one another after that week.
They had gone out for brunches since the day they met, and were practically inseparable inside the casino. Although Lilah's wins had been astounding, to say the least, she did end up losing a few million Jenny. A small price to pay for the millions she racked up in such a short abundance of time.
Lilah still hadn't forgotten about the deal she had made with the doorman, who turned out to be very wealthy indeed. He had direct connections to Yukari's father and wasn't one to disregard a promise.
Hisoka was rather impressed at her wins and even visited the casino to watch her destroy two mob bosses. After they threatened to kill her for taking their money, they were found dead in an elevator just ten minutes later.
Of course, Hisoka couldn't allow them to make cheap threats.
Lilah noticed blood on his clothes when he arrived back from his meeting, and just laughed at his antics. The two were now almost at five billion Jenny, which would be tripled by tomorrow. That was the day when she'd be going up against Yukari, who was very much looking forward to their upcoming match.
The present time was 6:45, and Hisoka had just finished changing into his clothes from yet another quick murder spree. Lilah was in the same outfit she had worn for her first day arriving in Yorknew city, along with her thigh-high boots.
She had left her hair curly today, having just visited the hairdresser for fresh roots. It was the pale ivory-ice color she liked so much, which Hisoka said accentuated her facial features beautifully. She couldn't hide her blush from his statement.
"Ready to go?" He asked.
Lilah nodded, readjusting her coat once again. "Yeah, let's head out."
The two marched towards the door, Hisoka opening it for her. She traced a finger lightly across his cheek as she walked past him, and he chuckled softly.
They walked towards the elevator and stepped in without losing sync of their movements. But as the doors closed, a certain uneasiness flooded over Lilah. Hisoka noticed her hand beginning to twitch and intertwined their fingers without hesitation. She almost jumped at the contact.
"I'm sorry. I'm just nervous about meeting these people," she awkwardly admitted.
"Is that all? You scared me for a minute there."
Lilah looked up at him. "You did mention that they are a band of ruthless killers who take lives for fun."
"I did not exaggerate. That is their nature."
She laughed lightly. "That does not help."
"I wouldn't want you going in blind, that would get you killed."
"Checks out. But in the worst case, I can defend myself."
He smiled and pressed his lips against her forehead. "That much is obvious. But they'll die by my hand before they even have the opportunity to touch you."
His words invoked a spark in her eyes, reflecting in his own. She wore that captivating expression that entranced him from the moment he met her.
With a squeeze of his hand, she kissed his cheek. "Thank you, my love."
The doors opened, and she exited first, noticing a group of people near the reception desk. Someone familiar lingered with this crowd, but she couldn't grasp who it was. Her eyes stayed upon the blonde who accompanied a blue-haired teenager, whom she recognized.
