The rain came down quite heavily as Leorio drove through the damp streets. It was rush hour, so they were stuck in heavy traffic. Though Leorio had luckily pulled over, and they were out of the car jam at the moment.
Lilah sat in the backseat with Gon, listening to Killua's voice through his phone. It was quite clear as he spoke, and she made sure not to make a sound and just pay attention.
She had thrown on a raincoat in an attempt to stay dry, though the weather had been horrid for the past few hours, and she would end up getting drenched regardless.
"She's with her buddies. There are six of them," came Killua's voice through the speaker. "The guy with the topknot's here, too," he finished reluctantly, making Gon groan uneasily.
"There's one more thing. There's a guy we didn't see yesterday."
Lilah's head perked up, and she asked for a physical description to tell them who it was.
"I'm willing to bet he's the leader. He's wearing a black coat, with an inverted cross on the back. He has black slicked-back hair. I can't see his face," Killua explained.
Lilah snapped her fingers in realization. "Yeah, you got it. That is their leader."
Gon's eyes widened as Killua kept speaking, and Kurapika urged him to hand over the phone. The green-haired boy did as he gestured, and held it to his ear.
The blonde was in disguise, making him look even more feminine than he already did.
Kurapika explained what Killua should do, and urged him to follow them to the best of his ability. Gon and Lilah listened in closely, nodding at his words with agreement. And with that, Leorio hit the gas, telling everyone to quickly buckle up as he swerved the u-turn and began picking up the pace.
Lilah held Gon as he leaned forward to listen to Killua's voice. She was holding his seatbelt, making sure he didn't fly through the windshield as Leorio stepped on the brakes when he rammed back into heavy traffic. Every lane was blocked.
They were now right in front of the station Killua said the Troupe members were getting out, but the car was in the middle of the biggest jam.
Kurapika couldn't get any closer, or the Spiders would recognize his ability through aura alone, so they had to stay in the spot they were in. He stared forward with conviction, taking in a deep breath.
"Hey Gon, Lilah. This is as far as it's safe to go," he spoke out. "I need to be this far from the station, or else they'll notice me before I want them to."
Gon and Lilah nodded, their hearts beginning to pick up a rhythm. Fear was settling in, but they wouldn't let it get the better of them, no matter what.
And right at that moment, the people they were aiming for walked right out of the station in a small group. Kurapika gritted his teeth as Gon gasped, Lilah letting out a calm breath. They would be fine as long as they stuck to the plan.
They watched them look around for a bit, and then they began bolting further and further away from them. Kurapika panicked, and quickly opened his car door. Lilah's eyes widened with Gon's, and they immediately left the car and chased after him as fast as possible.
"Kurapika, wait!" Lilah called out. Running in heels in the rain was not a good idea. A horrible idea. And somehow, she managed to catch up with him, Gon by her side.
The blonde was still on call with Killua, who pointed them in the right direction of where the Troupe members were headed.
They followed them down a few blocks, before finally catching up with them. As they believed their victory had been set, Chrollo did something unexpected.
