Queen of Joseon

CHAPTER 5

Joseon Dynasty 

Chaeyoung's POV 

I woke up when I felt a warm hand on my cheek. I slowly opened my eyes and I saw the Queen. Her hair was not tied and she let it fall on her back. I decided to touch her hand on my face and she immediately take off her hand. 

"Goodmorning My Queen. Did you sleep well?" I asked and I saw her face got blushed. Why does she always blushed? I'm not even flirting with her. I ignored it and decided to stretch my body. Sleeping in a chair was a bad idea. I should've atleast put a blanket on the floor. Now I regret sleeping while I'm on a chair. I heard a crack in my back which made me relieved. I saw Jennie went closer to me and why she looked worried.

"My Queen what I can do for you? Your expression shows worry. Did you not sleep well in my room? I apologize if I didn't wake you up so you could be transferred in your own room." I said and bowed at her. 

"I slept well. I heard your bone cracked. Are you okay?" She asked. I smiled at her, she's worried because of me?

"I'm grateful for My Queen's concern but I can say I'm fine. You don't have to worry anymore My Queen." I said and wait for her to reply. 

"I'm glad you're okay. Please prepare for the presentation later before noon. You can have your breakfast in the Royal Kitchen. Show them this ornament, they will immediately obey what you will ask them to do." She said and gave me an orange Phoenix ornament which has beads at the bottom. 

I changed my clothes and wore a light robe and luckily trousers here are thicker and more comfortable than my pants. I grabbed my perfume and spray it on me. I walked out while my hair was tied like a man in a hanbok. My blonde hair stood out even the maid tied it for me. 

After I was done, I went inside the Royal Kitchen. I immediately looked for the Royal Chef. 

"This Lord wants to speak with the Royal Chef? Is the Royal Chef here?" I asked and I saw a small and chubby man walked infront of me. Well he looked rude. I stood up straight.  "My Queen sent me to have my own food here. I would like to be assisted by you." I said and showed him the ornament. He widen his eyes and bowed at me. 

"What can I offer you My Lord?" 

"I want some flour, sugar, oil and water. Also show me where you knead your bread." I said fiercely. He shows me the way on a large flat surface. I don't see a rolling pin, Maybe it wasn't created at this era. I grabbed a cylinder wood and washed it. I mixed the flour, sugar and because they don't have butter I will use the oil for it's alternative. I mixed it and add the water. I rolled up my sleeves and start kneading. 

After sometime I add some dried raspberries and blueberries at the kneaded dough. I put the dough in a wood bowl and I covered it with a white clean clothe. A few minutes have passed, I took off the clothe and I saw the dough got enlarge. 

"Can I have some container, shape like a box. " I ask and one of the Royal sous chef gave me a metallic thin box. This is good, the bread will be cooked well. I put the dough inside the metallic thin box and I took out the fire inside the chamber. I put the dough inside and closed the firechamber by the large metallic lid which could help to maintains the heat temperature of the fire chamber. 

I now took a knife and chopped an onion chives and I saw an egg. I took the egg and beat it, after that I put an oil to the large pan infront of me. I put small amount of oil and I saute the onion chives. It smell good, when the onion chives is very much scented I put the beaten eggs and mixed them.  I put the scrambled eggs at a small bowl and I went back on my bread. 

I opened up the large metallic lid and the bread is already cooked. It looks wonderful. A golden brown bread and a soft, hot bread in my morning is such a blessing from above. I put the bread on a plate and I saw that the blueberries and raspberries combined their colors. I slice the bread and I put it in a small plate. I gave it to the Royal Chef.
