INSPO: The Last Of Us, Episode 5

Summary: Y/n is partnered with a guy named Joel who is taking her across the states in an apocalyptic universe to a hospital to see if she can become the cure to stop infected. The universe is filled with infected and people ready to attack at any second, leaving them always on guard. When they go back to Joel's brother's, Tommy, settlement after the hospital trip was a failure. Y/n meets someone who she didn't think she'd get along with, realising that they had met on the way to the college.

Y/n's POV:

We're in a car and I'm sitting in the back, in what people used to call a hospital gown. It feels... comfortable, I guess. I don't really know. I mean it's nice but cold as it doesn't cover my entire legs. I stare at the sky, wondering when we're gonna be back at Tommy's settlement. I'm so tired and hungry, I want food.

"Do we have food?" I ask him, hoping that we have some food.

"No. No, we don't." He answers, looking away. "Look, why don't you get some sleep?" He suggests, I sigh, facing the back of the seats. Shutting my eyes and beginning to fall asleep.

"Hey, Joel?" I call on him, I don't hear anything for a moment.

"Yeah?" He asks, finally after what feels like forever of him not saying anything.

"Did something happen? Am I no longer immune? What happened?" I ask him, hoping that nothing bad happened and that we managed to safely get whatever's going on with me out.

"Uh," I hear him shift in his seat, I glance back at him, turning my body back to face him. "well, they ran their tests. They did... everything that they were supposed too and while they got you ready. They realised... something, I don't know what." He answers, glancing at me through the mirror that's in between the driver's seat and passenger's seat. He looks upset. "But basically, there are a dozen like you. They thought that you might be different, but sadly not. So, they sent us on our way. Gave us a car and I'm driving back to Tommy's." He explains to me, I feel my heart break and I just want to cry. We travelled half-way across the country just to be sent away after a couple of tests and while I was still under. "Come on, get some sleep."

"I don't wanna sleep." I reply, leaning over and resting my hands on both sides of the car. "Have you got any clothes?"

"Uh, there should be some in the back with you." He replies, I glance around and I move open the pocket that was behind his seat to see jeans, a t-shirt, a hoodie, and a jacket. There's shoes on the floor. Perfect.

"All right, I'm getting changed. Don't look." I warn him, he scoffs.

"As if."

"Hey, David was... into that." I reply, trying to crack a joke.

"Y/n." He sternly says,

"I know, no making fun of the dead." I reply, taking the gown off and grabbing the jeans putting them on, I open the other and see two pairs of socks. I put one pair on then put the fluffy pair over. I grab the t-shirt, putting it on, pulling the jacket over as I'm a little hot in this car. I grab the shoes, putting them on and I climb into the front. I move the backrest back but not all the way down and look out the window.

"Put your seatbelt on." He orders,

"It'll feel uncomfortable." I reply, hearing him sigh. I'm not doing it.

I wake up to feeling Joel trying to wake me up. I groan and wipe my eyes, glancing around and seeing that we're at the settlement.
