yunho hears his alarm blare through his phone's speaker right at 7:00 am. he hadn't been able to get proper sleep for months— and he wasn't even completely sure about what had caused it. his typical sleeping schedule consisted of him napping through some classes of his, and then staying up for the rest of the day— which led him to his current situation.

the tired male tapped 'stop' on his alarm before slowly pushing himself up from his bed. he got dressed with minimal effort; wearing a simple black hoodie paired with baggy blue jeans. he didn't see the need to make his appearance look nice when going to school, as no one would be paying attention to him anyway.

after he takes his time getting ready in the bathroom, he lifts up his school bag and heads towards the front door. due to the silence, he had assumed his parents had already gone to work— which was to his convenience, as he didn't need to hear their commentary so early in the morning.

when he stepped outside, he sighed as he took in the cold air. it was currently september, so the weather was perfect in his opinion— it wasn't warm, yet it wasn't cold enough to where he'd need to worry about bundling himself with too many layers. it also meant he was free to wear hoodies without anyone giving him confused looks, in contrary to the reactions he'd get during the summer.

yunho eventually made it to the front of his school building. there were many groups of students socializing and interacting with each other; yunho scoffed internally at this, but deep down he only wished to have a friend group like that again. he decided not to dwell on the thought though, as he came to the conclusion long ago that he had pushed his friends away himself.

yunho used to have a small friend group in his first two years of high school when he was a new transfer student. his parents had finalized their divorce the summer prior to the beginning of his freshman year, and he moved away with his mom and her new boyfriend.

to say the least, he slightly regretted his decision— as the months went on, his home life got worse, and it took a great toll on his own mental health. his already short temperaments got worse, and it caused a lot of problems between him and his old friends. as he now looked back on it, yunho definitely wished he took the chance to open up to them and tell them why he ended up so unstable.

but it was too late now; his old friend group had no more interest in yunho, or at least that's the idea he left to invade his mind.

yunho hadn't even realized he had been so stuck in his thoughts until his teacher started announcing something to the class.

i don't even remember walking here, yunho thought to himself.

he was about to start his daily routine of sleeping through his classes before his eyes locked on the unfamiliar student who stood at the front of the room.

he thought he looked intimidating, yet handsome; yunho found himself staring at the latter in awe for a few seconds too long; their eyes had met, which caused yunho to immediately shy away and focus his eyes on something else.

"before i start this class, i'd like you all to meet our newest transfer student," the shorter woman, known as mrs. lee, introduced to everyone.

"hi, i'm song mingi! i hope to get along with all of you~" mingi spoke with a bright smile plastered on his face, along with a tiny wave of his hand.

"the only seats available are towards the back, so you can sit by yunho," mrs. lee directed as she looked towards yunho, signaling for mingi to follow her gaze to the latter.

yunho awkwardly holds his hand up as a guide for the transfer student, and within seconds the latter is seated next to him, fishing his textbooks out of his bag. mingi kept sparing glances at yunho as if he wanted to speak to him— but as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, yunho's head hits his arm and his brain drifted out of consciousness.
