I woke up to a warm body against me on a couch in a room that was not mine. Instantly everything came crashing back to me and as I laid there still and realized an arm was wrapped around me, but not just any arm, Luke's arm. Not only was his arm around me but he was cuddled up behind me and for a moment it felt like home, but then the pain out weighed the comfort. I jumped up and instantly regretted the quick movement as my head began to pound. Luke jumped up startled. 'What are you doing? Are you ok?"
"Luke, I am not ok. I haven't been ok for months so it's nothing new. But I can't be cuddled up with you on a couch, it's weird waking up and having a man wrapped around me who is not my husband," he instantly adjusted himself, "and I am still mad at you. I am ready to go home." I am able to move without falling so I started looking for my keys.
"Emma, I fell asleep. We did no harm, trust me not that I didn't want to." He said with a smirk. I couldn't tell if he was joking or being serious. This was not the time to joke nor would it ever be. Luke has never viewed me that way and the fact he just said almost makes me feel like he is trying to make fun of me. Obviously he wasn't being serious. Why am I standing here speechless and all of the sudden very aware of everything Luke. I shake my head out of this weird trance and get back to looking for my keys.
Luke put his boots on as quickly as possible. Finally grabbing and shaking my keys at me, "E, let me take you home. It will make me feel better. You just had a head injury, what if you pass out on the way home. It's at least a seven or eight hour drive."
I stop and look up at him. I wanted so bad to argue and tell him that I got this, but I think about the night Tucker died. The person who hit him was having a health emergency situation and had passed out. They couldn't help it but I could and I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I did that night. So I shrugged and sigh, "I still don't forgive you, but I will let you take me home. After that I want to go separate ways and never talk to you again." You could see the hurt in Luke's face, but he agreed.
