It had been over a month since Emma had left me. I was so worried. I tried contacting her mother and all she told me was that Emma was fine, but not to contact her any more. Obviously, Emma had told her mom everything that had unfolded. I sent multiple text daily. I could not let this be over, but I also wanted to give her space. I had waited so long and was so close to calling her mine, until Abigail and Tuck ruined it. Tucker was dead and still ruining my life some how.
I was back on the road, I still had obligations as hard as it was to try continue with life I didn't have a choice. With everything going on though I had new material to start writing again. I guess heart break does give you a perfect country song because the label loved some of the songs I had been writing.
I had been at work all day working with my producer, so when I got home I was exhausted and ready to crash. When I pulled in the driveway I noticed a car. Abigail's car. Great, did she not get it when I told her over a month ago that I wasn't interested.
I opened my door and walked to the front door where she had been sitting, I all but bypassed her mumbling, "what do you want Abs?
"Luke, I feel horrible. I messed up your chance with Emma and I have ran Emma out of town." I was putting the key in the door when I shot my head up and looked at her confused. Emma had not texted me back and I had no clue what she was doing. I assumed she had started her job that she was a for sure shoe in for. But her not being in town was new.
"What do you mean she ran out of town?"
"When you brought Lindsey and me back in town. I had told Lindsey everything and she thought it would be best for just her to go over and check in on her. She waited until the next day and when she got to her house no one came to the door. Of course, we all knew where the spare key was so she decided to go in for Emma's safety. When she went in all her clothes and some personal items were gone. We haven't heard from or seen her in over a month. As a matter of fact, we saw I sign out in the front yard, she's got one of the local realtors selling the house."
What the actual fuck? "Abs, you're telling me no one knows where she is?"
"We are pretty sure her mom does, but she won't say where or what's going on."
I knew this would ruin her, but not enough to up and move out of her home town that she adored. I needed to find Emma. There's no telling who she was with or what kind of trouble she could be in. I finish opening the door and Abigail tries to come in. I stop her, "look Abs, we all make mistakes, but you will definitely not be one of mine. I only have eyes for Emma and I am willing to wait as long as I have to for her to come back or for me to find her. But you coming in my home is not appropriate." She began to sob.
"Luke, I am so sorry. I don't never do the right thing."
"Abigail, you're a good person with a great heart. Don't sell yourself short. But it's time for you to grow up and deal with the mistakes you have made and start making right decisions." She nodded.
"Thanks for always looking at the positive in any bad situation." With that she turned toward her car to leave as I open the door. It was time to call everyone I know and figure out where Emma was.
I had spent hours on the phone texting her, I also called multiple people to try and find her, but I couldn't. I talked with her mom again and she was tight lipped. I was so mad at myself for not telling Emma as soon as I found out. Maybe I needed to take the advice I gave Abigail and start making the right decision for not just myself, but for Emma too. As hard as it would be I am going to give her the space she needs and hopefully we will reunite one day.
