It had been two weeks since I left Emma. I had not heard from Emma. All I have thought about is the amazing night we had together. I was hopeful that she would call me and try to figure out things. I missed her so much. Selfishly I wanted more of what we had the other night, but ultimately would be happy with just having my friend back. I still needed to tell her things, and it was nothing I could just blurt out. It was information that needed to be strategically given to her so she wouldn't lose her mind even more.
Every time my phone buzzed I would get hopeful, but was constantly let down. I was in Nashville again meeting with my record label about co-headlining a big festival when my phone buzzed again. I jumped for it as quickly as possible as I had for two weeks straight, but it was Abigail. I answered, concerned it was about Emma.
"Hey Abigail, what's up?"
"Hey Luke!" She was always a little bit more chipper than normal when talking with me. I think she thought I wasn't aware of the crush she had on me all through high school and obviously still does. We hooked up once, but honestly I only ever had eyes for Emma even after her and Tuck started dating. Which I know made me a bad friend.
Abigail continued to catch me up and tell me what was going on back home and I kept waiting for her to tell me something about Emma and why she was calling, but Emma never came up which was somewhat of relief but also worrisome as I knew she wasn't getting in touch with friends still. I kind of ran off with my thoughts and didn't hear everything she was saying, "Luke, you there?"
"Yes, sorry Abigail I am about to go into an important meeting and got sidetracked for a little bit. Were you just calling to catch up or did you need something?" I didn't mean to sound so cold but I couldn't lead her on.
"Actually I do need something. The town is trying something new to bring in some money for the local children's hospital. We are doing a gala in two weeks. And I hate calling in these favors, but we feel the ticket prices would go up if we advertised an intimate concert with Luke Abrams. We only need you to sing two songs..."
Before she could finish I answered, "Abigail I would love to. Count me in. Just text me dates and I will make sure I am clear and let my assistant know."
"Ok, sounds great. Thanks Luke, it means a lot to me." I could hear the smile in her voice. Abigail was beautiful and she was one of my good friends, but I wasn't going down that road. Honestly I was willing to help because of the possible chance of running into Emma. She used to volunteer at the children's hospital and was very passionate about it. If I know Abigail and Lindsey they will be inviting her and she will likely feel obligated. Or so I hoped.
