Cws: vague references to abuse
______________________________________"What do you mean?" Mina's voice crashed through the doorway. Katsuki takes a breath, eyes darting over the counter. He's hovering over the sandwich he's been making. Dinner has passed, but hunger gnawed at him anyway. He took the knife and cut the sandwich into two halves, placing them on a plate. The rain from earlier has only worsened, banging against the windows, the clouds bringing darkness early. It was quite beautiful in a way, but wet socks were one of the things on Bakugo's list of most hated. It sat just behind people ordering him about.
"You're being so annoying about this, seriously! Can't you just tell me what you did with it?" Sero hisses back. The two have been arguing since dinner about… Something? Katsuki hasn't the brain space to give enough of a shit to actually pay attention, he can, however, absorb the tone. And the tone in use - loud, and accusatory - is extremely off-putting. Having experienced enough of that language from his family members, his mother included, it makes him feel like he's somewhere else. Distant. They despise how it affects them. They're fucking Bakugo Katsuki. He should be able to handle people raising their voices, especially when it isn't even directed towards him. He's not a little kid, neither a poor little puppy in need of protection.
Grabbing his plate, he stalks through the doorway, passing his two bickering friends on the way.
"I already told you!" Mina crosses her arms, face disgruntled. "I don't know where it is!" She argues, voice heightening. Katsuki's grip on the plate tightens, and they scamper up the stairs. The two continue arguing but the further he gets down the hall, the more muffled the racket becomes. He's had enough of today. During third period, he started feeling intensively panicked out of nowhere. It freaked them out, being unable to control their emotions. Out of fear of embarrassing himself, he'd rushed away to be an idiot mess by himself in secret where nobody could see. Yes, the quiet room, apparently the only tranquil area of the school.
And Kirishima's bizarre quizzing on the matter made his irritation spike, mostly out of anxiety; anxiety that his boyfriend would know just how weak he is, amongst other things. Bakugo has a lot of secrets. They collapse onto their bed, and open their laptop, plate sitting beside them. He puts his headphones on, and feels his phone vibrate from within his pocket. It's Kirishima. Not like Eijirou could just knock on his door. Katsuki rolls his eyes, defensiveness welling in his stomach.
Redriot<3: just asking again… You okay?
Redriot<3: you know I'm always available for cuddles and kisses ;)
Lordofchaos: im fine fuck off
Redriot<3: im just reminding you :)
Katsuki stares at the texts for a moment, before switching their phone off. He'd have to tell Kirishima eventually. Probably. Otherwise Kiri would likely find out some other way. The idea of Kirishima finding out through alternative means, that the boyfriend he had wasn't actually assigned male at birth, made Bakugo sick. They took a reluctant bite from their sandwich, no longer feeling as hungry.
He had coping mechanisms for these feelings, like most people. Some were better than others. Some more humiliating than others. Like the childishness he's had a tendency to exhibit during times of stress, something that he made the mistake of letting Eijirou see on occasion. They swallow the mouthful of sandwich. Tomorrow had better be less disparaging than this.
