Wetness.

Wetness against his lips.

Xavier snorted as he slowly roused.

Blinding sunlight became blotted out by a pair of beautiful, dark eyes the instant before he sat up with a violent start.

"WEDNESDAY!" Xavier cried, mortified by the pool of drool he had left on his hand after hours sleeping slumped over outside.

"Why were you out here instead of in your room?" Wednesday asked.

As Xavier tried to blink away his shock, she scowled and snapped, "Based on the fact that you can see my window from this exact spot, I sincerely hope you aren't still stalking me five years later."

Xavier swallowed.

He recovered himself with a nervous smile as he nodded and managed to greet his darling, "It's good to see you again too, Wednesday."

Wednesday's dark eyes flickered over him for a lingering second before she silently and generously granted him her forgiveness, "Your art?"

He looked better than she remembered, tall, fit, handsome.

"..........Excuse me?" Xavier furrowed his brow.

"Is it because of your art?" Wednesday asked.

When Xavier failed to catch on immediately, she huffed and explained, "The reason why you were nominated? Is it because of your art? Enid's just here to provide moral support, we aren't all being recognized for achievements."

"Oh......" Xavier nodded as he shook off the last of his groggy haze, "Yeah.......Yeah, it's for my art."

"That's a very nonchalant tone." Wednesday commented as she gave him a condemning scowl.

"Are you going to call me an elitist again?" Xavier smirked. He shrugged as he explained, "I didn't mean it to sound, like that, it's just......These awards don't really mean anything, you know?"

Wednesday frowned, "Then why bother to come at all?"

Xavier resisted the urge to grit his teeth as he realized his beloved had trapped him in a verbal box of logical reasoning.

He swiftly and silently decided the truth as to why he had accepted Principal Weems' invitation should be revealed at another time and place.

"........Maybe I wanted to 'inspire younger minds'." He smirked as he referenced the wording sent on each invite.

"You're lying." Wednesday said without hesitation.

"There's no murder mystery here." Xavier reminded his beloved as he narrowed his eyes at her, "I don't remember you being this nosy."

"Maybe I'm just curious." Wednesday snapped.

"Don't say they curiosity killed the cat?" He grinned.

"I've never much liked cats." Wednesday replied.

".......I've always thought of you as a cat person." Xavier blinked.

"I prefer scorpions and spiders." Wednesday retorted.

Xavier threw up his hands in a gesture of exasperation before he went on, "Well, you win, Wednesday, you found me out here.....I came for the award......Now what?"

Wednesday gazed at him for a long moment before she asked, "Are you coming to breakfast?"

Xavier sucked in a silent breath.
