—————————————————————Pleasant greetings were exchanged before Wednesday was drawn away from her love and his family.
Long after the party ended, Xavier's parents lingered behind.
The Thorpes made no mention of leaving even after Wednesday's family had departed for the evening.
Xavier held onto the silent hope that maybe, for once since his mother's disappearance, his father may actually choose to stay.
Wednesday was not the most skilled at social situations or navigating emotional trenches.
Out of what she thought of as consideration, she hid in the bedroom she shared with Xavier, standing by the bassinet after their baby had fallen asleep.
As the door swung open, her thoughts were suddenly interrupted.
She glanced over her shoulder to see Xavier frowning as he asked in a whisper, "Is he asleep yet?"
Silently, Wednesday nodded.
"Then what are you still doing in here?" He whispered.
"I wanted you to have some time with them." Wednesday quietly answered as she nodded in the direction of the Thorpes' grand living room.
A pained look Wednesday did not understand passed over Xavier's handsome features.
She furrowed her brow in confusion, but before she could ask, Xavier made his wants plain, "........I need you with me."
Wednesday blinked as he stretched an arm out and opened his large hand towards her.
He didn't care if his mate took his confession as a sign of weakness.
He didn't care if Wednesday felt awkward or not sitting next to him for his private reunion with his parents.
She belonged to him and he belonged to her.
Family was family, and that's all Xavier truly wanted......a family.
Regardless of whether or not she approved of his request, Wednesday decided to obey her alpha for once as she grasped his hand and allowed him to lead her back to the living room where Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe sat waiting.

Wednesday hadn't talked much to Xavier's parents during the party, too busy with her own family, Enid, Ajax, and refusing the many unwanted requests to hold Desmond.
Suddenly, as she and Xavier walked into the living room to find the handsome man and beautiful woman seated in two chairs across from their matching, upholstered counterparts, she was suddenly reminded Xavier did indeed have family.
There were times Wednesday momentarily forgot that he was not in fact, an orphan of sorts.
"I don't think we had a proper introduction during the party." Xavier's mother smiled as she stood up and offered her hand to Wednesday, "I'm Mia Thorpe, Xavier's mother."
"I'm Wednesday Addams." Wednesday nodded as she shook Mia's hand, "I'm-"
"-Xavier's mate, fiancé, and the mother of my grandson." Mia added as she dropped their exchange once an acceptable amount of seconds had passed, "Xavier's told me all about you, my dear! Sorry if the handshake seemed a bit awkward between two women like us......Xavier warned me you're not much of a hugger!"
Wednesday blinked as she stared into Mia's fair face, grateful both to Xavier for warning his mother and to Mia for respecting her boundaries.
For once, Wednesday wasn't quite certain what to say next.
