It pained Wednesday to learn that Morticia's midwife was not, in fact, practicing her specialty anymore since her untimely death a year prior.

Weeks passed, classes were held, doctor's appointments were attended.

A week before Wednesday's due date, she had slowed down, yet Xavier had sped up.

When she woke that rainy Friday morning, she blinked at the dark, snowy sky before she began the great task of rolling over.

Beside her, Xavier slept through the beginnings of the predicted winter storm, exhausted from a night spent kneeling behind her while he rubbed the lower part of her tensing spine.

Wednesday sighed as she closed her eyes and dozed off again, secure in her nest, next to her alpha.

The couple had spent hours wandering if they needed to contact their hospital as Wednesday suffered through several painful Braxton Hicks contractions.

They had both breathed silent sighs of relief when the pain had abated.

Shortly afterwards, she had slipped into a deep sleep with Xavier following her into drowsiness.

Neither Wednesday nor Xavier could wait to meet their son.

Despite their excitement, the prospect of actually holding an infant, their infant, seemed wonderfully horrifying.

A sheet of hail cut through the snow to slam against the large windows in Xavier and Wednesday's room.

The noise woke Xavier with a gasp as he sat bolt upright in bed.

His eyes widened as he glanced over at Wednesday and realized she still slept next to him.

In a blind panic, he pushed aside the blankets that kept her warm and hurriedly pressed three fingers against her belly.

He carefully closed his eyes and waited.

Would he be able to feel them yet?

Would-

"-What are you doing?" She groaned without warning.

"Are you hurting again?" Xavier blurted out.

She cracked her eyes open to scowl as she placed a hand higher on her abdomen than his and sighed, "I'm always hurting now, Xavier. That's a stipulation of my condition, in case you've forgotten."

"Get up!" He commanded as he stood to his feet.

"..........I beg your pardon?" Wednesday snapped as she suddenly opened her eyes all the way while her scowl deepened.

"We have to get you to the hospital!" Xavier cried as he threw on a t-shirt, hurriedly ran a hand through his long hair, and grabbed his wife's waiting bag.

"For what?" Wednesday grouched.

"For the baby!" Xavier exclaimed in frustration, "Hurry up, the storm is only going to get worse!"

"The baby's not coming right this minute." Wednesday yawned as she settled back into her nest, "..........Believe me, I'd know."

"You may not, actually." Xavier retorted.

Wednesday frowned.

He sat her bag down on the floor as he slowly crept back towards her and began to explain, "I had the most realistic....dream...vision.....whatever it was, right before I woke up!"
