Wednesday maintained silent gratitude for Xavier's patience.

She purposely avoided idle complaints, but the task of carrying his baby became a greater burden than she had expected.

Sensing his mate's growing discomfort, Xavier had to put in constant effort to hide his enthusiasm and fascination.

He forced himself to avert his eyes whenever Wednesday scowled in his direction, which was a difficult task in itself.

For an omega so averse to having a family, motherhood suited her well.

The artist in Xavier couldn't help but admire the soft blush that brightened her usually pallid cheeks or the enhanced, lustrous shine of her long, black hair.

He often woke first to enjoy the luxury of watching her sleep, with her plump lips gently parted as she lay nestled against him.

Her growing breasts certainly hadn't escaped Xavier's notice either, although he strove not to show the extent of his interest in Wednesday's new curves.

She would only tolerate his hand on her abdomen once or twice a day.

If Xavier asked to touch her womb more often than that, his requests were answered by a stern scowl of irritation.

Wednesday hated that as her belly rounded, her activities grew more and more limited.

Fiercely independent, Wednesday took it as an insult the first time she stumbled ungracefully as  her heavy bump disrupted her equilibrium.

Xavier caught her in his arms without a thought about the wrath he may incur.

His instincts demanded he protect his mate and child, no matter the cost.

Wednesday threw him a dark scowl as soon as he helped her regain her balance with both feet planted firmly on the floor.

".....Sorry." He murmured quickly, "I know you don't need my help, but what was I supposed to do? Let you fall?"

As Wednesday looked away and laid a hand over her tummy, Xavier frowned.

"Hey," He said as he stepped forward and gently turned her face to look into her eyes, "You don't have to be embarrassed, Wednesday.....You're pregnant. That's what happens."

"Is it?" She scowled.

Xavier chuckled as he realized he had accidentally offended her, "Well, being a man, I don't know, I guess. Look.....let me try again, I read an online article that mentioned that could happen, so I'm assuming it's normal."

Wednesday's scowl melted into a pout as she gazed up at him.

"I have to say, I am impressed by your bravery." She determined as her eyes scanned his face.

"What bravery?" Xavier blinked.

"Not every alpha would bother to read about pregnancy." Wednesday shrugged, "I never thought I'd take a mate, but I am glad I chose one that's willing to learn."

"I can't do much for you if I don't know what I'm doing." Xavier shrugged, "So I thought it would be a good idea to learn what I can."

"Are you still going to make me go to those stupid classes?" Wednesday frowned.

"No." Xavier shrugged, "I'll go by myself."

Her dark eyes widened.

"..........You're going to attend a birthing class at the hospital by yourself?" Wednesday scoffed.
