"I don't know, man....." Xavier sighed as he held his iPhone to his ear.

From the other end of the phone, Ajax confidently reassured him, "Dude, trust me. You said she was acting weird Saturday, right?"

"I think she was." Xavier frowned, "Didn't you think so too?"

"Look dude, I mean......Addams is kind of weird to begin with, so....." Ajax chuckled.

"You don't understand." Xavier huffed, "It was different, she was different......It was almost like she was......nervous.....or something. Something was off, because Wednesday's never nervous."

"How was she when you two kissed?" Ajax asked.

A silent pause followed.

".........Fine." Xavier eventually revealed as he cleared his throat.

He purposely omitted the lewd, vivid vision he had been treated to when his lips had touched Wednesday's.

"Fine.....?" Ajax scoffed sarcastically, "Yeah, if a girl's just 'fine' after you kiss her, then that's...um......"

"Thanks, man. I gotta go, alright?" Xavier said quickly.

"Yeah, sure, anytime." Ajax replied.

"Later." Xavier murmured before he ended the call.

In the quiet of his empty mansion, he frowned to himself for a moment.

His friend hadn't  been much help, but what had he expected?

Just because Ajax was a married, mated alpha didn't necessarily mean he would possess the foresight or the knowledge to predict when someone else may present or how.

Xavier was well aware psychic visions were often confusing, inaccurate, and misleading.

Regardless, as he drove down the road in his silver sports car an hour later, away from his father's estate and into town, he hoped with all his heart that the vision he had shared with Wednesday had been completely accurate in every detail.

Once he reached his destination, Xavier glanced at the sign that hung proudly in the window while he walked up the shop's steps.

Corrigan's Nesting Supplies

He frowned as he reached out, opened the door, and stepped inside.

A hat and dark glasses disguised his identity, aided by his bland, simple clothing.

The last thing he needed was for some rabid member of the paparazzi to snap a photo of him there and post it online or print it in a magazine.

Xavier shuddered to imagine what would happen if Wednesday learned he had gone out searching for nesting items to prepare for their week together.

As he entered the shop, a cluster of small brass bells announced his arrival while the door closed behind him.

Ring, ring.

Like a poised actor stepping on stage during a cue, a middle-aged blonde woman planted herself directly in Xavier's path with a wide smile, "Good afternoon, sir! Thank you for choosing Corrigan's Nesting Supplies! I'm Rebecca Slaner, the saleswoman on duty today! What brings you in to see us?"

"Oh, um......just browsing." Xavier nodded under his dark glasses.

"Of course! If there's anything I can help you with, sir, don't hesitate to ask!" Rebecca smiled before she turned and walked back to her seat behind the counter to respectfully let Xavier examine the available merchandise.
