Minho loosened the neck of his sweatshirt, staring at the fare outside the glass window. Eunyeong fiddled with her fork as she looked at the food on the other tables. They waited for their usual orders to arrive, the silence unexpectedly deafening in the meantime.

Eunyeong had barely gotten out of the parking lot in her little Kia when Minho had run out on the tarmac, nearly pasting himself across her bumper. She shrieked and yelled but eventually settled, exchanging brief words.

They still hadn't said much.

"So you-" "Have you-" they spoke up at the same time and quickly averted their eyes.

"I thought-" "I was-" they interrupted each other once more.

Eunyeong held a hand up, laughing awkwardly as she started.

"I was just saying... you look good... healthy" she said, her smile evaporating quickly after that.

"Thanks, Eunyeong... you look radiant as well. Happy" Minho smiled and Eunyeong looked down.

"I feel better" she fiddled with her hands and Minho could tell she was uncomfortable. He inhaled deeply, looking sombrely into her eyes.

"I know that... nothing I can say will fix how I made you feel... but I want to start by saying sorry"

Eunyeong squirmed in her seat, hesitant and quiet. She ran her words through her head, finally facing Minho with kinder eyes.

"I was devastated... I'm going to be honest with you" she said "I wanted you to be gone. I wanted you to hurt the way I hurt. When I heard that you'd... left... a small part of me thought maybe this is what you deserve AND STILL all I could think of... all I really wanted... was for you to be okay" she confessed.

"I still love you, Minho" Eunyeong placed her hands on the table "I know you hurt me because you were hurting too but... I don't want to be betrayed... or taken for granted".

"I have learnt better..." Minho reached across to graze her hand, seeing if she'd pull away "I will never put you through such a thing again..." he stroked her knuckles

"You're my best friend... Eunyeong"

The waitress brought over their ice-creams, immediately lightening the mood. Eunyeong reached for her butterscotch sundae and Minho for his strawberry cheesecake, digging in.

Eunyeong let out an appreciative whistle "Lovely as ever..." she remarked as Minho laughed "You tempted me into having this." Eunyeong shrugged "I know my stuff" she pointed to the cups.

"So... you came by to drop Wookyung to work?" Eunyeong swirled her spoon into her scoop. Minho nodded.

"Yes, he wanted to show me some renovations... some books"

"You've been writing?"

"More so. Yeah. I'm working on it"

"I'm happy to hear that"

"Also I..." Minho cocked his chin mischievously "I didn't snoop around or anything but... I did meet Wookyung's tall, blonde assistant back at the office."

"You mean Areum Kwon?" Eunyeong blushed ever so slightly at the mention of her name and Minho laughed in disbelief.

"So you do like her!" he pointed out

"What?! I didn't say a thing"

"You don't have to"

Minho shrugged, smugly eating ice cream as Eunyeong threw her hands up in defeat
