Now normally you would expect people to act more professional, but that wasn't the case for this hound dog. You see, the year was 1958, and around this time, there were a lot of soda shops and sock hops, and the ladies were always seen wearing dresses. Doctors and policemen still wore neckties to work, TV was in black and white (and still in its infancy), and people listened to music on record players. There were rotary phones, old-fashioned automobiles, drive-in diners and...yes, you probably get the idea by now. It was a decade of Americana.
But for one, life was a little different. You see, there was a young hound dog (who had bright sky blue fur) by the name of Huckleberry Hound, or Huck for short. He lived in a small town in North Carolina, and his life was like any other. Only for him, he often got incredibly emotional at times. One morning, he was in his bed, fast asleep, when he heard a voice calling his name.
"Huckleberry! It's time to get up!"
The hound dog tucked in his sheets, when he heard that voice, until he suddenly realized what time it was. He gasped as he opened his eyes, and looked at the time: 8:30 on the nose.
"Ohhhh...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Huck leapt out of bed, combed his three strands of hair, put on an orange neck tie with a matching derby hat, and ran downstairs. There stood a magenta colored hound with blonde hair, and a yellow dress. Huck ran past her and straight to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He scrubbed his teeth so hard and so quickly he nearly made his gums bleed, then he spat out the toothpaste and gargled with some water to rinse his mouth out. Of course, he did it so fast he almost choked.
The magenta hound, namely Huck's mother Sweetberry, began to look a bit worried. "Huck," she said, "I think you should slow down a little before you trip and fall."
"I know!" Huck replied. "But why didn't you wake me up sooner, Ma? I'm late now!"
"Don't you have an alarm clock?" Sweetberry asked.
"Yeah, but it ain't tick-tickin' like it's supposed to," Huck replied. "I reckon it's broken or something."
Then he ran towards the door, until Sweetberry called him once more.
"Huckleberry!"
"Yes?"
"Don't you want your lunch?" she asked handing Huck his lunchbox.
"Oh, yeah," Huck muttered. "I forgot."
Huck quickly grabbed his lunchbox, then put his bags around his shoulders.
"Bye, Ma!" he called as he ran out the door. "See you later!"
You see, Huck was always in a hurry. He didn't want to be late, especially for school. And when he was late, he would complain.
"Why does every morning have to play out the same way?" he complained. "I can't believe I'm late for school again! But yet, I'm always late for school anyway!"
Now, you're probably wondering, "How come Huck is going to school at age 25?" Well, Huck has been attending an engineering school for 2 years now. He had quite a knack for fixing things, and inventing as well, so it's no surprise that he decided to attend an engineering school. But it doesn't do an aspiring engineer any good if he's late for class, does it?
Huck soon reached the community college where the engineering school was hosted. He had just made it inside the door when the clock was beginning to strike nine and he raced down the hallway to his classroom. As he did, he felt his stomach rumble with hunger.
"Aw, shucks!" he groaned. "I wish I'd had time for breakfast! In fact, all I had on the way here was a bottle of water!"
He then reached into his lunchbox, and pulled out a slice of huckleberry pie, his favorite!
