It was another beautiful day in Hill Street Neighborhood. Huckleberry Hound had been having quite an easy morning, but he still had a strange feeling that something unfortunate was going to happen. It must have been the way his joints cracked when he woke up earlier. That always seemed to be a sign that he was in for something odd that day.
In the meantime, Huck had just met up with his friends at their usual hangout: the local malt shop. They were all at their regular table, enjoying milkshakes as they always did. While they sipped on them, they were chatting about how things were going at the studio. But Huck was sipping his milkshake too quickly.
"Huck, slow down!" Mr. Jinks said. "Like, you're gonna end up choking on that milkshake!"
"Jinks, it's just a drink," Huck replied. "I'll be fine!"
"Uh, Huck," Pixie sighed. "I think he means it. You should take it easy."
"Yeah," Dixie put in. "It's not going anywhere."
"I know," Huck responded. "But this milkshake is so good! I just love it so much!"
"But it's the same kind you get everytime we come here," Boo-Boo pointed out.
"Yeah, but for some reason, it tastes even better today!"
"Huck, I would slow down if I were you," Yogi Bear cried.
"Awww, fellers, you know me! When it comes to milkshakes, I just gotta have a drink! Especially if it tastes better than usual!"
Huck removed the straw from his glass, then he gulped the rest of his milkshake down. "Glug, glug, glug...ahh!" He smacked his lips with satisfaction. "Now that hit the spot!" But just then he let out a great big hiccup. "HIC! Huh!?" he cried. "What happened!?"
"Uh-oh," Boo-Boo said. "Sounds like you've got the hiccups!"
"See?" Jinks groaned. "That's what happens when you drink your milkshake too fast!"
"Awww, no!" Huck sighed. "I can't stop-HIC! Hiccuping!"
"Yogi, how do you stop hiccups?" Pixie asked.
"Gee, I'm smarter than the aver-age bear, but even I don't have a clue," Yogi replied.
"In that case, maybe we should go and find out," Boo-Boo suggested. "Maybe there's a medical book that we can look into."
"That's what I was thinking!" Yogi chuckled. "To the library, on the double!"
The gang rushed to the library and immediately started browsing the shelves in the non-fiction section. There was a whole shelf full of medical books, everything from how to treat common colds, to identifying different signs of different diseases, to books about how the body works. But nothing on hiccups. That is, until Yogi found a book titled "Handy Home Doctor."
"Look at this!" he said. "100 home remedies on how to treat just about anything that ails you...unless it's something serious."
Huck looked at the book, and turned a couple of pages. "Hey, this book has a whole section on how to cure HIC! Hiccups."
"Well, like, let's take it and we'll try it out," Jinks said.
Huck pulled his library card out of hammerspace and took the book to the front desk. "I'd like to HIC! Check out this book, please...HIC!"
"Shhhhhhhh!" the librarian said. "Not so loud!"
"I'm...HIC! Sorry," Huck replied sheepishly.
The librarian stamped his card then handed him the book. Then the gang left the library and headed for Huck's house. Once they got there, they all started looking in the book to see what sort of cures it told of.
