It was the last day of October in Hill Street Neighborhood: Halloween. Months and months had gone by and the gang had been busy filming tons of episodes for their TV show over the spring and summer so that they'd be ready in time for the fall. But now that filming had wrapped up for another session, it was time to kick back and enjoy the autumn holidays! Halloween had always been one of Huckleberry Hound's favorite holidays for so many reasons. He loved to dress up in costumes, and of course, he loved the candy. Right now, he was in his room putting on his costume. He decided to dress up as a cat. He wore a pair of cat ears, gloves that looked like paws, and of course, a long cat's tail.
"Meow!" he said to himself as he looked in the mirror. Then he let out a loud chuckle. "Just look at me! I'm a dog, dressed like a cat! Ain't that hilarious?"
Then he grabbed his pumpkin shaped basket, went down the slide, and headed out the door. He started walking through town to do some trick or treating. Trick or treating was one of Huck's favorite Halloween traditions. He'd only gotten to do it every few years or so back in North Carolina as a pup because most of the neighbors back there didn't really celebrate Halloween. He and some of his friends used to travel to another neighborhood and collect their candy there instead, and Huck would then have a hard time getting to enjoy any of it, because his brothers and sisters would all want their share. But now, since the neighbors here loved Halloween, there shouldn't be a problem getting his paws on a ton of candy, Huck thought.
But just then, he saw what appeared to be Frankenstein's monster popping up from a bush nearby!
"GRRRRR!!"
"YIKES!!" Huck shrieked. But when he saw who it really was, he burst out laughing. "Yogi! Gee, that's a great costume!"
"Thanks, Huck!" Yogi Bear replied. "I scared you, didn't I?"
"You scare people better than I do," came the familiar voice of Boo-Boo from somewhere nearby.
"Boo-Boo?" Huck called out.
"Over here!"
The small bear inched his way out of the bushes to reveal himself wearing a pumpkin costume. "I tried to hide in the pumpkin patch and give some of the animals from Jellystone a good scare, but they all said my costume looks more cute than scary."
"Awwww, Boo-Boo, you look adorable!" Huck beamed. "There's nothin' wrong with wearing a cute costume on Halloween. Heck, just look at me! I'm dressed as a kitty cat!" Then he let out a cute, adorable little, "Meow!"
"Avast ye, buccaneers!" a voice suddenly called out.
"Is that a pirate?" Yogi wondered.
"That's not a real pirate, Yogi!" Huck replied. "It's just Mr. Jinks!"
Just then, Jinks came leaping into the scene wearing a pirate captain's hat, a neckerchief, a belt and boots, waving a wooden sword. "Yo ho ho! Shiver me timbers!" he shouted. "What have we here? A couple of scurvy swabs? Oh, it's just you guys! Hehehe!"
"Yep!" Huck giggled. "I really like your costume, Jinksey!
"Like, uh, thanks, Huck!" Jinks replied. "You look cute in that cat costume!"
"Glad you think so!" the hound said. Then he pretended to purr like a cat. But then, two small figures walked into the scene. "BOO!" they cried.
"AAAAAAAH!!!" everyone screamed.
But then, they heard some familiar giggling.
"Heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee!!"
"Pixie? Dixie?" Huck wondered. "Is that you, guys?"
