It was a bright sunny day, and the crowds were flocking to Super Family Fun Land, a local amusement park located near Hill Street Neighborhood. There were clowns roaming around making balloon animals, stalls for snacks like popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, and peanuts, and of course, rides, games, and entertainment. Today, Huckleberry Hound and his friends were there to visit the park, and have some fun. Huck was very excited to go to the park, because this was his first visit!
Right now he was standing in front of a roller coaster, watching as the riders zoomed along the track. He gulped and felt his knees shaking as he heard their screams. Should he, or shouldn't he? It looked pretty scary, but it also looked like a lot of fun.
He suddenly heard Yogi Bear's voice next to him. "Hey, hey, thinking about riding The Comet, are you, Huck?"
"Well, I dunno," the hound answered. "It looks pretty fast!"
"I get scared of roller coasters for that reason sometimes," Boo-Boo said.
"Like, uh, can we come back to this one?" Mr. Jinks asked. "I just ate all that popcorn and I like, don't want it to come back up."
"Yeah," Pixie agreed. "Let's not do this now."
Just then, they heard another voice nearby. "Step right up, step right up!"
"Huh?" Huck said. "Who was that?"
"Look!" Dixie cried. "Over there!"
Right next to the roller coaster stood a carnival barker standing in front of a large funhouse. "Step right up, folks!" he cried. "Who would like to be the first ones to enter our brand new funhouse?"
The gang ran up to the parker, and started yelling for tickets inside the funhouse.
"I WANT A TICKET!!!" Huck shouted.
"Me too!" Yogi bellowed. "And one for Boo-Boo!"
"Now hold it, hold it!" Jinks yelled. "I want one of those tickets too!!"
"We want some tickets too!!" Pixie and Dixie cried.
"Hold on a second," the carnival barker said. "I only have three tickets. So only three of you can get these tickets."
"Only three?"
"I'm afraid so. They haven't gotten a chance to print off anymore."
Huck sighed. He really wanted to visit the fun house with all of his friends, not only two of them. He wondered how they could possibly come to some sort of agreement as he gazed all around the park. He could see the midway with the games, the boardwalk, and beyond that, a harbor filled with boats that sat on a small beach. All of a sudden, the light bulb went off in his head when he saw those boats. He snapped his fingers and a smile crossed his face.
"I've got it!" he said. "Maybe those tickets could be the winner's prize in a contest!"
"A contest?" the barker questioned. "Why, I never thought about that! But what sort of contest do you have in mind?"
"How about a boat race?" Huck suggested. "Whoever makes it to the seashore first wins the tickets!"
"Great idea!" Dixie cried.
"Yeah, sounds like fun!" Pixie added.
"Then, let's go get some boats!" Boo-Boo said.
So they raced to the harbor, and started looking for boats to race in. There were sailboats, speedboats, rowboats, and even tubes and pedalos.
Huck soon found a little motor boat, perfect for at least 3 people.
"Hey, Pixie and Dixie!" he called. "Wanna race with me in a motor boat?"
