It was the end of another long day of work. Huckleberry Hound was busy mopping the floors following the wrapping up of filming another episode of his hit TV series. However, he looked a little different today, because right on his chest was a big green button that read "Lucky Me!" in blue letters. He smiled to himself and said, "Huckleberry Hound, you are one lucky guy!" He mopped around the radio, before deciding to turn on the radio to listen to some music. He suddenly heard a familiar tune.
"Hey!" he cried. "I know this one! It's my happy song! I always sing this song whenever I feel happy! And I should be really happy at the moment, and for good reason too! Tomorrow's my day off! And that makes me really REALLY happy!" He began to sing in a high-spirited voice.
"Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again
All together shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again
Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on
Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy times, happy nights
Happy days are here again!"
Huck danced and smiled, and high-fived his mop as the song came to a finish. "We make a great team, don't we Mr. Mop?" He laughed to himself, and put his mop away, before grabbing his suitcase, and heading out the door. "See you Friday, boss!" he called.
"Have a nice day off, Huck!" the boss called back.
"I'll see you later too, ol' studio!" he said with a tip of his straw hat. He then started walking home and whistling cheerfully to himself.
"Oh boy, I can't wait for tomorrow!" he said. "I'm gonna go see a movie, enjoy some ice cream, go to the game center, go see the Andrews Sisters perform, and I have an audition for the circus! I bet I'm gonna have a lucky day tomorrow! And it's all because I have my lucky button! I wear it whenever I feel lucky!"
Huck had been lucky several times ever since he moved to Hill Street Neighborhood, including making some new friends, getting his own TV show, and most recently, celebrating his birthday at the studio. He often felt as if something good was going to happen every morning when he woke up. Just then, he heard the sound of a jingly tune approaching. He listened closely, but then recognized the noise straight away. "The ice cream truck is coming!" he cried, as he took off running. "Yay! Ice cream!"
He dashed toward the truck and waved to the ice cream man as he came to a stop. "Howdy!" Huck greeted. "I'd like two scoops of birthday cake, please!"
"Birthday cake ice cream?" the ice cream man said. "I've got you covered! And for good reason too! This week, all the ice cream is free!"
"Free? Well shoot, that's great news!" Huck replied. "I had a nickel ready, but if it's free, I can't say no to that!"
The ice cream man gave Huck his ice cream, and the blue hound was soon on his merry way, eating his yummy treat. "I think I know what goes great with ice cream! And it just so happens that I'm gonna have it for dinner tonight!"
