After a successful premiere on television, the Huckleberry Hound Show was a smash hit! Kids, teens and adults alike were tuning in every week to see the newest episodes, and Hanna-Barbera had become a household name thanks to the show's newfound success! There were already lots of toy companies calling the studio, asking for merchandise deals, and of course, Kellogg's agents were always phoning in scripts for brand new commercials for the gang to star in. To say Mr. Hanna and Mr. Barbera were proud of Huck and his friends would be an understatement.
Right now, Huck was in his dressing room, sporting a detective's hat and trench coat. They were about to start filming a brand new bumper for the show's latest introduction, where Huck would play the role of a private eye. The coat was a little itchy, but thankfully, he only had to wear it for a couple of minutes. Just then, he heard a knock on the door.
"It's showtime!" he called. Then he opened the door to start the show's opening, as the cameras were already rolling.
"And a houuuuuund dog howdy to ya'! This is Detec-ative Huckleberry Hound trackin' down what's comin' up on the show!"
He saw as Pixie and Dixie came in running with a box. "See here now, what's this? Hi Pixie! Hi Dixie!"
"Hi Huck!" they chorused.
"What's in the box, fellers?"
"A present for Jinks!" Dixie cried.
The orange cat himself reached down and grabbed the wrapped gift. "I'll take it. I like presents!" He reached inside and pulled out a green hat with a propeller on top. "How about that? A copter cap! I wonder if it works!" He placed it on his head, spun the propeller and took off into the air.
"Bye-bye, Jinksey!" Dixie called as the mice waved.
Just then, Yogi Bear popped up from behind Huck, wearing a novelty disguise over his face. "Excuse me sir?"
Huck turned around to face the bear, holding up his magnifying glass. "I don't believe we've met yet."
"Don't you recog-nisize me, Huck!" Yogi asked, pulling off his disguise.
"Not under that disguise, Yogi."
"You knew! Didn't you?"
"Why sure!" Huck said. "You're one of the stars of the show!"
"And the same goes for you too!"
Huck looked at the camera with a smile. "Aw, shucks folks! Everyone's a star on the Huckleberry Hound Show! So let's go!!"
He held the magnifying glass up to his eye, and then he heard the director yell, "Cut! That's a wrap! Good introduction, fellas!!"
"Thanks Mr. Director!" Huck beamed. "But, there's just one problem."
"What's that?"
"I'M ALL ITCHY!!!"
Yogi chuckled. "It's okay, Huck...we did that in one take, so you don't have to wear that coat anymore!"
"Thank goodness! But I still gotta get this thing off!!!"
He raced back into his dressing room, and threw the coat and the hat off.
"I never wanna wear that coat again!!!" he screamed. Then he placed his straw hat back on his head, and started scratching himself all over his body. "Gosh, I dunno what feels worse! That coat, or a bunch of fleas bitin' me!"
Of course, Huck often got emotional at times, and this time was no exception. He looked in the mirror, adjusted his hat and bow tie and gave a sigh of relief since he no longer had to wear that itchy coat. But just then, he heard someone else sighing from outside his dressing room door.
