chp. 7

After a while of sprinting away from "the boy" ..

"Oh look" she pointed at a gas station, gasping for air. She jogged towards the entrance, walking behind the cashier's desk to rest from all the running.

She looked at her dog, who was laying down, trying to catch his breath with his tongue out. She put the leash down to look for something to put water inside. Luckily, she found some unused cups sitting next to her. She got one and put some water in it to give it to Titó.

Her, feeling tired as well, grabbed a bar of chocolate and some water. She ate it, looking around just to see nothing but snacks, drinks and other stuff.

Still feeling hungry, she got up and so did her dog, "No no, stay here and be quiet" she said to her dog who sat back down and watched as she walked away.

She walked around seeing a lot of munchies there. She went to the candy aisle and got some gum, chocolate, and some sour candy. She then went to the drinks and got a couple of water bottles, energy drinks and soft drinks.

Going back to behind the cashier's desk, Titó was known where to be seen. "Titó?" she made some noises to catch his attention, "titó? where are you boy?" she placed her things down inside a bag and looked around.

She ended up finding him, but with a familiar guy placing a blanket on top of him. Titó was now on the lap of the unknown guy, sleeping peacefully. Selene found it pretty, but who's the guy?

"Hello?" she softly said with her low, and sweet quiet voice , creeping up to him. They made eye contact. He placed index finger, silently shushing her to let the dog sleep at peace.

Her eyes softly gazed at how much he cared for the dog, who is peacefully sleeping on his lap. He was sitting criss-crossed, eyes squinting under his mask due to smiling, looking at the dog like it was his kid.

She walked towards him and sat next to him, petting Titó softly in the head, trying not to wake him up. "Titó suits him" the guy said, looking to his left, seeing Selene gazing at the dog still. He found it cute how much she looked at him.

She then looked up to his eyes, and held eye contact with him. It was something unexpected. They both felt butterflies in their stomach, despite the closeness of their faces. Shoulder to shoulder, face to face, was probably a little too close for them both as strangers.

Eventually, the dog woke up, getting off the boy's lap. They both came back to reality, facing away from each other but secretly smiling about the closeness. They both got up and stretched for couple of seconds before Selene grabbed Tito's leash.

"Your leaving already?" He said, looking to the girl who was ready to walk away. "Well.. " Selene shrugged, putting her hand on her nape. "I'm Niki, the guy who you ran away from the store earlier.." he smiled and held out his hand. Selene smiled and shook it, "Selene". They both smiled, letting go of each other's hands.

Before Niki had a word to speak, Selene stopped Niki. "Wait!" Selene exclaimed, taking out the camera. Niki stumbled a bit at her aggression, putting his hand against his chest like he just had a heart attack.

"I'm doing this thing where I want to take pictures of things, create some memories.. so if you don't mind.. can we take a picture together as a first memory here as the people last on earth?" Niki smiled, and nodded his head.

Selene smiled and faced the camera lens to them two, plus Titó who had his tongue out. She lifted her arm, a flash snapping into their eyes.

She turned around and saw Niki still recovering from earlier. "Oh sorry, my bad." her smile faded and put the camera down, looking guilty. Niki just smiled and giggled at her cuteness. "It's fine" he chuckled, "now give me that" he softly grabbed her hand and grabbing the camera from it.

Selene felt her cheeks burn. "You look cute blushing", he giggled at her reaction. He flipped the camera, standing next to blushy Selene and tongue out Titó. He took another photo, revealing red face Selene looking straight at the lens, while Titó looks into some other direction. He giggled and showed the photo to Selene.

Selene looked at the photo and saw her face. She hid her face in embarrassment and snatched it from Niki's hand.
"Okay, let's go now" Selene took the camera and put it inside her bag she's been carrying around from now on.

They headed out and began walking, "I can show you a lot of places", Niki said walking next to her and Titó. Selene looked to her right and lifted up her face, "really?" She questioned him, making him nod.

"Then I don't mind a little adventure." She smiled and walked further in front of him, making him giggle.
