𝐀𝐒 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐍'𝐒 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓, Klaus celebrated another victorious win. Another fallen enemy and another day his family remains safe and unimpeded by lesser than men. Hayley and Elijah loaded Rebekah's coffin in the truck while the remaining of his family watched Lucien burn in silence.

Klaus wrapped his arm around Vanessa's waist, tugging her closer to his body. He didn't expect her to accept the gesture after leaving in the middle of a heated argument, but decided to test his luck and it worked. "You're awfully quiet. Something troubles you?" He stroked her back in a gentle manner and she exhaled, clearly in deep thought.

"To be honest, I'm worried about Deena."

They found their daughter in view. She stood before Freya, holding both her hands with her eyes closed. Freya told her to take a deep breath and clear her mind as she absorbed any lingering magic they stole from the French Quarter ancestors. Said it could be enough to cure Rebekah's hex or have an outer reach to locate a witch strong enough to. A siphoner.

Truth be told, two firstborn witches could do the impossible and Deena proved it true by saving her mother. It wasn't magic Klaus wished her to tap into given her determination at the expense of her own life, yet understood it could do her more good. While he would uphold her wish to evoke fear in others, he would uphold his to ensure her mortal life remains. Rebekah would understand and wouldn't mind waiting a little longer or at least until Freya's help.

Still inspecting Deena, Klaus failed to understand Vanessa's worry. "What for? She seems fine to me. I'd say even better after aiding her father to weaken and kill the so-called unkillable beast. Happier in fact."

He recalled the moment she and Freya arrived just before Lucien could bite him. They weakened his form and took away what made him important. He'd never been more proud of his daughter, but it seemed Vanessa had some doubt about it as always.

"Isn't that what we wanted for her? To be safe, secure, and happy?" Klaus asked for clarification.

Vanessa held her breath like she wanted to say something but didn't know how to put it. A hunch or a motherly instinct. "Of course, that's what we want. But...I don't know." She shrugged and Klaus peered down to read her conflicting expression and make sense of what she was putting off from revealing. "Maybe I just don't understand her. Maybe I'm the problem, trying to force her into someone she's not and she's just growing up. Maybe these heightened emotions are getting in the way and clouding my judgement. I don't know."
