𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘'𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃.
Faceless shadows were out hunting for blood, but not just any blood — rare blood that had the magic to undo curses and bring upon protection when forged as a weapon against violence.
And only Deena's blood remained of value.
The walking threat, but an easy target.
Creeping from their crevices, they allure like a smoky substance into semi-solid figures. Like disturbing monsters cgi'd in a horror film from the 80s. The ground quaked with each hungry step, chasing after her. Their moans of greed struck goosebumps throughout her body and nearly planted her feet from the amount of fear installed.
Deena found herself running down the halls of Greenbaum Dormitory. The pain in her chest expanded and burned with each heavy breath, pumped on adrenaline and the fear of surviving. She was still dressed in an oversized shirt stolen from Erik with her headscarf nowhere to be found, her braids flowing with the wind. The shadows have multiplied when glancing over her shoulder.
They were gaining on her tail.
With her hand out, she spelled them away. Even tried to close in the walls to trap them. Magic did not work.
She cut a corner and stopped dead in her tracks. A shadow awaited her presence. It stood tall and skinny like a withered tree in winter. Its face was a dark hole, but somehow, saw its devilish smile stretching and deforming its entire face.
"You make it all too easy. I'm starting to think you want us to find you." It spoke with many voices and Deena staggered backward with her mouth hung open, no breath to be detected.
"Why can't you leave me the fuck alone?" She cried out.
Its head tilted. "Did you forget? You belong to us now. As long as your blood stays warm and your breath is full, you remain a valuable asset. And as long as you remain valuable, we will come for you. No matter where you hide. No matter the strongest spell or the biggest army at your feet — you belong to us."
