It hadn't worked. The whole fucking plan hadn't worked. No one had gone to see Scott who looked worse than ever, pale and shakey, meaning it was all for shit. He'd nearly died for fuck's sake and while near death, you had nightmares.

Theo knew all about those nightmares you had on death's doorstep.

They didn't have any form of plan anymore. There was no next step or anything. Theo could tell by the energy in the room everyone felt the same. Scott's living room had once been a place of love and joy for him. Somewhere he played, ran, ate and watched TV with his two best friends. Now it seemed to be like a funeral home more and more. He couldn't imagine what this place had come to symbolize for Scott or Stiles.

"What now? The plan failed." Isaac cursed, staying close to Scott. He hadn't left his side. "Kate showed up instead and she isn't the benefactor."

"Why didn't the benefactor show up?" Stiles pondered, holding an ice pack to his head. Kate had given him some wicked head injury. "It doesn't make sense! Scott was dead!"

"Maybe they somehow knew." Theo said, the realization coming to him slowly. "Like someone who can predict death. Who knows when someone's died."

"A banshee? Like Lydia?" Scott asked, his voice still kind of shakey. "You think there's another banshee?"

"There was Meredith. Well I mean, she died but still." Theo leaned backwards, settling on the couch "It's really fucking possible that there are more."

"We need to talk to Lydia then." Stiles said, "She's the expert on these things, right? COnsidering she's a literal banshee."

"We'll talk to her when she gets back form her lake house." Kira thought for a second, "She's been spending a lot of time there."

"Yeah, she has." Scott's voice was full of regret, like they'd let their weakest member be taken without them knowing. Maybe they had. "We'll check in on her. Make sure she's okay."

"Meeting ajourned?" Theo joked, raising an eyebrow. He got mumbles in response as people left the room, himself included. Isaac, Scott, Argent and Melissa stayed where they were. Theo couldn't help but smile a little bit about Isaac not leaving. Maybe they had a chance.

Stiles was getting picked up by his father who was asking if Malia needed a ride. Awkward. Kira's mom was there to pick her up as well. It was weird, Theo wasn't going to lie. Seeing people get picked up by parents, like they had been hanging out at a friends after just fighting monsters. A little surreal.

"Can we talk?" Liam asked, grabbing Theo's shoulder and turning him around.

"I'm pissed at you right now." Theo wasn't lying. Now he was angry at Liam. He should've known better than to follow him into a fight. Liam shouldn't have even been at the goddamn hospital, let alone the rooftop. When the berserkers attacked, he should've run. Liam saving him was dumb as fuck. It was dangerous. Theo wasn't about to let that slide.

"What?" Liam seemed taken aback.

"You did some really dumb shit back there. You should've run not try to attack the berserkers." Theo scolded, angry. The two of them were behind Theo's truck, out of view from everyone which wasn't a problem considering the empty dark streets.

"I saved you, is that what you mean?" Liam felt his anger rise too, growling slightly.

"You could've been killed! Do you realize how fucking dumb that is?" Theo was yelling now, "For fuck's sake Liam, you shouldn't have even been on the roof! You shouldn't have been at the hospital!"

"Yeah well, it's a good thing I did because your sorry ass would've died!" Liam yelled back, pushing Theo's chest.

"Then I should've died!" Theo shouted back, stunning Liam into silence. "I don't care if I fucking die. That's my job. I'm the solider alright? I put my life on the line every goddamn day because it's what I do best. You deserve to have a fucking life Liam."

"You're a soldier, not a scarifice." Liam wanted to yell, shout and scream but his voice was weirdly low. Shakey and frail btu still dangerous.

"In war those are the same thing." Theo snarled, "Don't be fucking dumb or naive or pull any bullshit like that again. You should've taken the out Stiles gave you. Hell, we shouldn't have even given you a choice in my opinion. Just go home Liam."

"Did I do something?" Theo had started walking away but Liam couldn't help but call out to him. "Like seriously? Because you never acted like this before."

"In the week and a half you've had powers, you've been kidnapped, nearly killed, attacked and put on a deadpool. Go home like I said." Theo's voice was cold. He didn't look back at Liam and drove off, leaving Liam all alone on the street.

-------

"Thanks for picking me up Mason." Liam said, slifing into the front seat of Mason's car. "I didn't have a ride."

"No problem dude. It's been too long since we've talked." Mason said, side eyeing Liam. "You've been acting really off. Is it Brett?"

"It's nothing. Just school work." Liam lied as they started driving to Liam's house.

"So it's got nothing to do with the fact you just stopped talking to me and started hanging around a bunch of juniors?" Maosn asked and Liam felt guilty. He wanted to tell Mason everything but he didn't know how.

"School's been stressful." Liam shrugged, trying to find excuses for his behaviour that wasn't the fact his entire world had been turned upside down. "And that's really it."

"Is it Theo?" Liam whipped his head around as Mason continued talking, "Dude's known around school for being a player and a heartbreaker. Some people say he's hooked up with every queer guy in Beacon Hills."

"That's bullshit. He hasn't hooked up with you."

"Fair point but people say his type is mainly older guys. Not like creepy old but juniors and up." Mason shrugged, "Guess we don't make the cut."

He didn't know but that hurt. The idea of not being enough for Theo... even Theo had basically yelled to his face that he was dumb and didn't want to be around him. He didn't want to think about Theo anymore. It hurt too much. Why did it hurt him? Liam's chest was physically burning and he had a headache.

"Woah are you okay?" Mason asked, looking over at Liam with a concerned expression. "You- your eyes are-"

"What?" Liam snapped, closing his hands while ducking and putting a hand up to them. Were his eyes glowing? Shit, how could he let this happen?

"They're bleeding a bit dude. That looked like blood. Are you okay?" Mason's high was increasing in pitch, "Liam?"

Liam opened his eyes, looking at his finger tips which were convered in a thin layer of blood. He touched right below his eyes and felt them come away wet again. The metallic smell filled his nose. Blood. He was definitely bleeding.

"Uh yeah I just cut right below my eyes with my nail." Liam stalled for time as he freaked out. Why was he bleeding? Did the berserkers do this to him? Is that why Theo got so mad at him?

Theo. Oh god. His stomach twisted and turned as another wave of pain hit him. This time, it was a mix of emotional and physical pain. Was it Theo? He remembered Deaton talking about fights or repression of feelings when it came to mates. The fact it caused physical pain.

Liam rolled down his window and threw up. He knew why the pain was happening but it made it worse in a way.

Because who wants soulmates when they don't want you?
