Liam didn't want to go to a stupid goddamn party. Even if it was the biggest one of the year but both Scott and Mason were making him go, using the excuse he still had to live a normal life. He still felt sick and queasy, suffering from cramps and chest pains that Liam was sure would put any human in the possible.
"It'll be good for you." Scott smiled from the front seat, Isaac next to him. Liam didn't have the slightest clue what was happening bewteen them but it was weird to say the least. "You should get out more. Socialize a bit."
"Gee thanks mom." Liam muttered back, holding his stomach and looking out the window. He'd gotten some tips from Deaton on masking his chemo signals so that way other people couldn't tell his emotions but it was taking a shit ton of effort and by the look on Scott's face, he oculd tell something was wrong.
"I'm not mom like at all." Scott said, turning his attention back to the road as Isaac laughed.
"You kind of are Scott. I'd say your more like a chill dad and then Stiles' is an overworked mother figure." Isaac teased.
"Are you implying that Stiles and I are married?"
"I'm telling you that you and Stiles are like the parents of the pack." Although Liam hadn't been in the pack for nearly as long as Isaac, he understood what he was talking about. Stiles and Scott had a brotherly dynamic yet also argued like a married couple. "And Theo is like the cool uncle who takes everyone out for ice cream and to do dumb shit."
"You watch way too much TV Isaac." Scott laughed, shaking his head. "Why does Theo get to be the cool one?"
"Because he has the coolest outfits, pulls the most, skateboards and has the aesthetic of someone who just is cool." Isaac shrugged and Liam felt his stomach twist. Great, they were talking about the one thing he didn't want them to do for fear he'd fill up Scott's mom's car with bloody vomit.
"How drunk can I get?" Liam blurted out, trying to change the subject. Scott and Isaac exchanged a look. Goddamnit, what was it with him sitting in the back and then people in the front looking at each other before talking to him? He was tired of this bullshit. "Hello? If I'm going to this stupid thing, I want to get fucking wasted."
"Werewolves can't get drunk." Scott responded, the cheeriness in his voice gone.
"Unless we add Wolfsbane. The not super poisonous kind, of course. " Isaac chipped in, only to be glared at by Scott. "Hey, he asked!"
"Doesn't mean you tell him." He scolded before turning to Liam for a few seconds, "Even if you could, getting drunk is a bad idea. It doesn't help anything and just means you lose yourself to the bottle."
"I have to agree with goody two shoes here." Isaac wasn't smiling anymore, "Alcohol can lead you to do bad shit. Don't get too drunk ever."
"Yeah well, I've been having a super shit few weeks and I want to be able to let off some fucking steam." Liam scowled, crossing his arms. He hadn't slept in a while. "I want to forget I got bit by a werewolf, forget I'm being hunted for money and just fucking sleep."
"When's the last time you slept Liam?" Scott asked, clearly concerned about the young beta.
"Doesn't matter." His voice was short and curt, not wanting to give the real answer which was he didn't know. For once, the wolrd seemed to not hate him as that's when they pulled into the school parking lot. "Alright, bye."
"Liam-" Liam didn't stick around to hear what Scott had to say. He quickly opened the door, slamming it shut and jogging away, into the crowd of people. The main goal was to find Mason, someone he could just chill by. Plus, it had been Mason that had dragged Liam here.
"Dunbar!" Someone called and he gave an awkward wave back to them. He had zero clue who the boy was who'd yelled his name. Clearly, the boy didn't really care either as he went back to partying. It was probably a teammate or something.
The party was loud. There was a DJ playing some really loud music, personally, the music didn't sound all that good to Liam but who was he to judge? Everyone was drinking and cheering, clearly happy and drunk. Well, maybe not happy but definitely drunk.
A surprising amout of people were dancing. Liam had thought that people at the age got too cool for that sort of shit but clearly a mix of alcohol and teenage hormones had people feeling like dancing. The fire was big and bright, he could feel the warmth it gave off from far away. Liam had zero clue how people managed to be so close to it.
"There he is!" Liam was suddenly grabbed by his best friend, Mason, who had a huge grin on his face until he saw the look on Liam's. "You all good bro?"
"Yeah, I just want to sit." He gave a weak smile, trying to find an excuse for his shitty attitude. Although Liam had never been one for parties, he usually got into them at some point. Normally after the alcohol hit him though.
The two boys made their way over to a picnic table, where Liam sat with his head down. Mason sat next to him, staring at him. Liam couldn't deal with this anymore, grabbing the large bottle next to him and taking a large sip. Who cares if it doesn't work? Might as well try.
"Yeah you should drink. Maybe then you'll finally tell me what the fuck's been going on." Mason glared at him and Liam almost choked on the burning liquid. "Oh yeah, I'm not dumb Liam. Something's been happening with you."
"What'd you mean?" Liam wanted to know so he could try to find excuses.
"You were bleeding from your eyes in my car after you called me to pick you up, which is the only time we've really talked in weeks. You keep wroking out like crazy and doing the most dangerous shit. Plus, you stopped hanging out with me and only really hang out with the juniors." Mason listed off and Liam felt the guilt overwhelm. He broke eye contact with Mason, who let out an exhausted sigh before grabbing his shoulder. "I"m not asking because I want to know Liam. I'm asking because I want to help. I'm your bestfriend dude. That's my job."
"I'm sorry." Liam mumbled, unsure of what else to say. What could he really say? He knew Mason deserved a better friend than the one he was being but there was just so much happening.
Then it hit him, like a fucking train. His vision went blurry, body feeling fuzzy and numb. His head hurt slightly and his ears rung but hey, at least the stomach and chest pains had stopped. Liam still felt like throwing up.
Scott said that werewolves couldn't get drunk? Well, here he was, fucking wasted after a few sips already. Liam knew something about that was wrong but his mind was so far away to care. There was something else keeping him like this and it was bad. He felt bad. Not drunk just bad.
"Liam?" Mason asked, clearly worried as Liam tried to stand up, stumbling and missing steps as he did. "Liam, woah. Are you drunk?"
"I dunno." His words slurred together as he feel on his ass and the whole world went black.
