What if I Stayed? (Thiam Fic)

Chapter Sixteen

"What happened to him?" Malia growled staring at Theo as Liam carried him into the back of the Jeep. Scott had tried to carry him but Liam couldn't let go of the limp body in his arms. 

"Yellow Wolfsbane plus being strangled and having his head nearly chopped off." Scott said, opening the front door. "Brett's in slightly better condition. He'll go in the back with me. Malia and Isaac in the front. The rest of you go with Lydia to unlock the rest of the list or talk to the Sheriff."

Maybe if he wasn't holding a potentially dead body, Liam would've been impressed at the way Scott took control of the situation but he was a little pre-occupied. Isaac opened the door for him and despite them having never spoken before, Liam was grateful for him.

"Scott, can we get someone to drive so I can manage Theo's pain? I don't know if Liam's there yet." Isaac's brow was furrowed as he stared at Theo in Liam's arms. 

"I'll drive you guys." Stiles slid into the driver's seat. He looked backwards, seeing Scott slam the trunk shut. The only sounds Brett was making was moaning and groaning in agony. Theo was silent. Isaac jumped in, avoiding Theo's feet but it still made Liam worried. "Alright, Let's go."

The car took off like a shot, bumpy and wild as they flew down the road. Liam was trying to focus his hearing or anything to prove that Theo was still alive. There was a faint heartbeat and a slow, non consistent breath but nothing more to say what was happening to Theo. Isaac moved his hand to touch Theo. Liam felt panic and defensiveness flood through him as he growled, pulling Theo closer to him, into his body.

"Calm down Liam. I'm not going to hurt him. I wanna help." Isaac tried to soothe and Liam knew he was trying to help but his rational, human brain was gone. "I can take away his pain. You just need to trust me. Theo's in pain right now, I can help with that." The idea of how much pain Theo must be in, brought him back for a few seconds. Liam gave a sharp nod and Isaac lightly touched Theo's shin.

Theo's veins turned black and they travelled from all around, beginning to wind up Isaac's arm and enter his own body. He took his pain as long as he could before he took his hand up, which was shaking slightly. 

"We need to get to Deaton's double time." Isaac called, his voice cracking slightly and Liam felt the panic return. It hadn't looked like he had taken that much, only a few seconds worth of pain. He wanted to take more of his pain. 

"We're two minutes away," Malia yelled, turning around, "How's Brett doing?"

"He's starting to foam at the mouth. Bad sign." Scott called back, "Any symptoms from Theo?"

As if Scott's words had suddenly reminded the yellow wolfsbane it was there, Theo began to convulse. At least it meant he was alive. For how long though? That depended on wether Stiles could drive faster then death could steal.

The second they arrived, Liam was out of the car, carrying Theo the same way Theo had carried him after Scott had broken his ankle. Malia and Isaac were ahead of him, calling for Deaton who was already preparing two tables.

"Put Theo here." Deaton ordered and Liam placed him gently on the table, "And put Brett here. I'm gonna need Liam out of here for this."

"You can't kick me out." He snarled, ready to fight this man if he didn't let him stay. Deaton just raised an eyebrow and turned to Scott.

"He cares too much about Theo and he has a lot of past with Brett. He's newly turned. If you want them to survive, he needs to wait in the waiting room." Deaton turned back to Liam, a soft look on his face, "I'll bring you back in as soon as the gruesome stuff is over."

"Liam, go outside." Scott ordered and Liam felt frozen as someone dragged him out of the room. He saw Deaton pull out some needles, scapels and some other things Liam had never seen. He sat down on the chair and put his head in his hands.

"I have to go," Appearantly the person who had dragged him out was Stiles, "I have to talk to my dad and see what's happening. Deaton's a good doctor, Theo'll be fine."

"Don't lie." Liam replied and Stiles was silent for a few seconds before walking out the doors, the little bell ringing softly. He couldn't help but blame himself. He should've gone with Theo, he knew that Garrett and Violet were probably dangerous. Or that Brett wouldn't have been any help. He felt bad for Brett because it was also his fault he was in this mess. Liam's breathing got heavier.

His ears were ringing and no longer from the small bell. It was in his head. His heartbeat was racing. Breathing was getting more challenging unless it was in gasps and there was something squeezing his throat or his heart, he couldn't tell anymore. Everything inside of Liam was twisting and turning in all the wrong ways. He wanted to throw up, scream, cry or break something. He wanted to do something more than what he was doing now.

"...Stable condition." The word floated through the muck of goo that was his brain, "His condition wasn't too bad."

"And Theo?" The voices were echoing in his head, his vision was swimming, like he was dizzier than humanly possible.

"Unknown. If he was fully werewolf, he would be fine but because he's a chimera," Liam bit his lip, feeling the skin break. A nervous habit he hadn't done since he was a kid, "I don't know. He's the only chimera I've met."

"I'm gonna bring Liam in." The door opened and Liam stood up like a rocket, the next words that Scott said not making it to him as he rushed past him and went to Theo. He was laying on a cold table, like a corpse in a morgue.

Theo's face was relaxed, like he was in a peacful sleep. The mark around his neck was looked like it was healing but slowly. Too slowly for Liam's liking. He grabbed Theo's hand, the way he saw Isaac grabbed his shin and focused. He wanted to take his pain because he could tell that something still hurt.

But nothing happened.
