Night after night had passed, and finally, Izuku had packed everything he needed in a small burlap sack, knowing his sword and bow were the only things missing, but he could pick them up on the way out. The Omega planned to leave that night. It was perfect, the King and his mother would be sleeping, and the guards would change their shifts in an hour. If everything went as planned, the prince wouldn't have to worry about people chasing them until the next morning, and by then, he and Eijirou would have a day's head start.
The plan was flawless. However, human error was always a possibility.
The prince sighed as he shoved the burlap sack under the bed for the time being until he came back. Now for his master plan.
He wrapped a long rope around his waist before tying it off. He already had bags to place the gold. Now he only needs one thing. He then grabbed a small dagger on his bed and tucked it between his belt. Izuku pulled in an anxious breath.
The prince opened his door quietly before walking quietly down the hall. The treasury was down in the dungeon next to Eijirou so he could grab the gold and then release the redhead before booking it quickly to the stables. Izuku signed as he quickly made his way to the kitchens. The servants would have retired for the night so he wouldn't have any disturbances.
He opened the door quietly before stalking inside. He blended in with the shadows as he crouched down. He walked closer to the fire pit that was built into the wall. The embers were still burning hot, but he ignored it. His prize was above the put.
Just above the hot cinders was a vent that led outside so air could circulate into the castle. However, that vent is connected to many others, so the greenette could sneak anywhere he wanted. The only reason he knew about it was that the vent was a regular hiding place for the prince when he was a kid. Once he had gotten lost inside and his father had to crawl in to retrieve him. Izuku's eyes got misty thinking about the memory, but he pushed it away once he realized he had lingered there far too long.
The Omega took in a breath before jumping to grasp the edge of the metal hole and pulling himself up inside. Once his whole body was safely tucked inside, the boy noticed how small the tunnels were compared to when he was a child. Though he should have expected it, the prince cursed under his breath. He started to crawl on his hands and knees, feeling rather cramped in the vents but realized it wasn't horrible.
Crawling through the dark, Izuku realized that navigating under the conditions, he was hopeless to find the right tunnel. But it was too late to go back now. He had already come so far he couldn't quit.
He crawled for a few minutes before hearing a muffled voice. He perked his ears and noted the voice sounded more like a grumble, so he followed it. He bumped into a few walls but otherwise was pretty quiet. When the voice got loud, he realized that he recognized the voice.
"Guards, keep a lookout. I feel trouble, so do your damn jobs and say here. If you see anything, report back immediately," Monoma's voice rang clearly with a hint of annoyance. The guards shuffled their feet, making Izuku freeze so he didn't alert anyone.
When the sound of footsteps exited the room, he felt his anxiety fade. He could feel the guards' relief as well as they chuckled lowly. Izuku then continued down the shoot until he felt the vent slowly dip downwards. He followed the tunnel down, feeling the cool metal on his fingertips as he felt his way around. He stopped when he realized the vent shot downwards into a sudden drop. If he went through it, it would be a straight down, and he didn't know where he would land. So, instead of panicking, Izuku used his body weight to hold himself up as he peered down the hole.
A flickering light made Izuku feel better when he saw specks of light reflecting off something. He grinned to himself before using his rope from around his waist and lowering it toward the bottom. Izuku used a nearby cover to tie it too before he sucked in a breath, wrapping himself around the skinny threads and inched down little by little. This was it! He had done it!
