Kirishima excused himself away from the group to gather himself. He had to take control of his emotions or he would be useless in finding his Omega. The redhead took several breathes, listening to the sound his lungs created while Kaminari snored in the background.
"Eijirou take some breathes. It will be okay," he said to himself as his fist clenched at his sides. He was hoping he would smell Izuku's scent in the air, listening for his voice in the wind. The redhead leaned his head back and produced a croon, signaling out to his Izuku that he was near and waiting for him. He listened but didn't hear a reply back.
"Shitty hair, what's with all the noise! We're supposed to be looking for the Omega not attracting attention!" The blonde snarled from behind a tree, making Eijirou jump with surprise.
"Kat," he whispered in reply.
"I'm sorry I'm missing Izuku, I'm worried out of my mind that he got himself killed," The redhead admitted as he twisted his fingers together. Katsuki stepped from behind the tree and stood next to the Alpha. He didn't want to make eye contact so he looked to the sky, at least the stars were a good distraction.
"You think he's weak?" Katsuki muttered and Kirishima nearly snapped his neck he looked at him so fast.
"No, of course not. He's capable of handling himself, he is very intelligent and has the ability to think with a clear head. Hell, he got me out of the castle! And he didn't have too. Izuku-" Katsuki clicked his tongue and interrupted the Alpha with a flash from his hand.
"Then you shouldn't be worried. The strongest will survive, so if he's strong he'll hold out until we get to him," the dragon,-shifter glanced at the redhead but didn't linger to long in case he caught him. Kirishima sighed as he crossed his arms, his form hunched over like he was thinking real hard. Then slowly, as if the words were of great meaning Kirishima licked his lips.
"He's my partner, and my best friend. We have a connection that I can't explain but I feel it everytime he laughs. It's like a cord on a harp and everytime I see him smile it gets plucked and I feel warmth in my chest. My heart races when we kiss and I just want to hold him and protect him for the rest of my life," Kirishima finished by looking at the blonde and the two Alphas couldn't separate their gaze. Katsuki knew exactly what the redhead meant when he talked about a connection, but his felt like barbed wire. Everytime Izuku and Kirishima smiled the blonde could feel their hold on him grow tighter. He couldn't remove it either because everytime he tried it stung him harder than any physical pain he ever felt.
His kind had always believed in a kind of instant connection like that - Humans always called it soulmates - but dragons just have instinct and rage to spare. Katsuki remembered a wise old dragon mentioning something about mates and second genders but something he said always stuck with him. The heart's desire was a physical mark you recieved when being kissed by your other half, it was said to be the mark of their resemblance. Katsuki had never seen another dragon other than that old geezer that had rolled up on his territory when he was far too small. Sadly, the blonde wished deep down that the old geek stayed if just for company, he did remember though that the wise dragon had a mark on him in the shape of a paw print on his shoulder.
"You okay?" Kirishima snapped Katsuki out of his thoughts and the blonde just snapped his jaws at the redhead.
"Fine!" He gripped but Kiri just covered his mouth with his hand as he hid his smile.
"You know what I'm talking about!" He pointed at Katsuki and allowed his hand to fall to show off a smirk.
"Who is it?" The Alpha asked with a sinister little grin on his face. Katsuki just felt his cheeks heat up before he turned up his nose and lost the sight of the redhead.
