"I'm Nightmare! And the person next to me is my friend XD!" Suppressing a wretch my body shuddered at the melodic and cheerful voice of someone I knew too well. Next to him was someone I hoped to never see.
Both their voices haunted my nightmares. As I looked at XD my back stung and ached, feeling as If the wound had just been freshly opened. All the scars from the previous Revival experiments stung and the little XD brand edged into the inside of my wrist felt as if it was on fire.
Biting the inside of my mouth, tasting the metallic taste of blood, I stopped myself from crying out in pain or whimpering in hopelessness.
People murmured to each other, whispering on what was going on. Some were recording what was going on. Running into an alleyway I pressed my necklace. The Theseus gear spread over my body, I can't let them see my face, they would recognize me too fast.
Running back into the crowd I tried to blend in, no one noticed me, all of them being too focused on the two on the platform.
"Let's get to the point! We're villains! And were looking for something of ours! It is a simple thing that ran from us awhile ago, our tiny Phoenix! We need it, it is valuable research." Nightmare exclaimed cheerfully.
"We know you're watching us Phoenix. Come back to us, let us continue our research, do you remember what you are? Why do you waste your time hanging out with weak mortals like these? Come back to us little brother, you know we love you, no one else could, no one else does." XD said. His words sent a shiver down my body. Why are they doing this?
Before I could even finish processing anything XD flicked his wrist. There was a scream from somewhere in the crowd as a Kid was lifted into the air and brought to the platform. He knelt in front of the two, facing the crowd. I heard the cries of the childs mother and yells and gasps of shock from the people watching.
None of this fazed me, Everything was silenced except for the sobs of the child, the kid I recognized. Someone who was like a little brother to me, Henry. I was snapped back to reality as XD spoke again.
"Phoenix, you need to learn. This is what happens to people who get attached to such small things as friendships and toys." My heart skipped a beat as I knew what was coming.
Without even thinking I started to run forwards. A cry stuck in the back of my throat as ran to the platform. Unfolding my wings I launched myself to the platform, people dispersing around me, letting me get to the podium.
Before I could even reach the podium XD left with a swish of his cloak and Nightmare plunged a sword right through Henry's abdomen. There were cries and Screeches from the crows around me as I finally got to the Podium. Ignoring Nightmare I ran to Henry's side. I could faintly hear what Nightmare said through mine and Henry's sobs.
"Just come back home little Phoenix, stop your tantrum and do what you were made to do" With that Nightmare disappeared. The crowd went silent, just watching me crouch over the bleeding out body of Henry. The barrier dissipated, but no one left. Henry's mother ran up onto the platform and stood a bit away from me and Henry, sobbing into her hands. Without a warning she collapsed to her knees, sobbing.
"Golden prince..." Henry murmured softly.
"Yeah, Hi kid." I cried as I spoke, trying not to choke up.
"I feel cold." He said, his eyes struggling to stay open. Another sob wracked my body, Henry trembling in my arms. My hands were soaked in blood as I tried and failed to stop the bleeding.
"Yeah, just stay awake. Help is on their way, then you can be warm with blankets and hot coco. Does that sound nice?" Henry gave a faint smile, nodding. My mask was on masquerade mode so everyone could see my eyes and my face expressions without knowing my identity.
