"How are you really handling this?" Doc Roberts asked Sean and North after the door closed.
"What do you mean?" Sean asked confused.
"You know what I mean, Boy, don't act stupid," Doc Roberts glared at him. "Now tell me the truth."
"I fucking hate it," North glared.
"So what are you going to do about it?" Dr. Roberts asked while smirking.
"There's nothing we can do," Sean shook his head sadly. The look of defeat on both of them shocked Dr. Roberts to say the least. He had never known the boys to give up. "She's in love with them. We can't break them apart, it wouldn't be right. As much as we love her and want her back, we did mess up horribly. We cheated on her, Doc, she may have forgiven us for that, but it doesn't mean we can have her back. She told us as much. She doesn't want us, she wants to be theirs."
North sighed as he leaned against the wall. The sigh was so heavy Doc Roberts was pretty sure North was fighting back tears. "She told me that she can forgive us but she can't forget that we cheated on her. She said she can't let us that close to her again. She said her heart belongs to them and she can't love us again, Doc."
"Damn," Doc Roberts shook his head and chuckled. "And I thought you boys were smart. Guess I was wrong about you."
"What?" Sean glared at him.
"I just never expected you to give up so easily," Doc shrugged. "Here I thought you stayed to become better men for her and learned how to accept others in her life to show her how much you've changed. I thought you were trying to show her you've learned your lesson."
"We are," North glared. "But she said she can't love us, Doc. It was pointless."
"So her letting you care for her was pointless?" Doc asked.
"Just what are you trying to say, Doc?" Sean asked.
Doc Robert shook his head, "Like I said, you are being stupid." He sighed and rolled his eyes, "If she truly didn't want you in her life she wouldn't have let you take care of her wounds or take care of her at all. If you weren't in her heart even the tiniest amount she wouldn't have yelled for YOU when she was attacked but she did."
"That was because Jackson and Jasper weren't there," North tried to point out.
"Doesn't matter," Doc Roberts shook his head, "She yelled for you because she TRUSTED you to save her. If she didn't trust you she wouldn't have. That girl is the most stubborn girl I have ever met and you know it. If she didn't want anything to do with you she wouldn't have accepted your help with her business, hell she wouldn't have talked to you at all. You know I'm right, too."
"She is stubborn as hell," North mumbled.
"Doesn't mean she loves us," Sean shook his head.
"No but doesn't mean it won't happen either," Dr. Roberts pointed out. "She swore she would never talk to you again and yet she is. Look," Dr. Roberts sighed, "don't give up. There's a reason Janie made the will the way she did. She obviously thought you still had a chance or she wouldn't have made the stipulation in order to force Alice to stay for so long or at all. Just think about it."
"She's marrying them, Doc," Sean shook his head. "It's too late."
"Says who?" Doc Roberts asked. "I thought one of the benefits of polyamorous relationships is that it can be customized. Lilly married Henry but Liam, Jack, and Harry joined later at different times too. Your group came together at different times even though you said you were done after seven and yet then you had the other five join. Nothing is final except death Boys, you know that. The point is that you can say one thing, but it can always change later."
"Thanks Doc," Sean and North nodded.
"Now go I got other patients to see," Doc shook his head while chuckling. "Oh to be that young and stupid again."
North and Sean walked into the barn and looked around. "How did it go?" Owen asked as the rest of the group came over from where they are putting up hay bales.
Sean told them everything including the private conversation with Dr. Roberts. "So he thinks we still have a chance?" Gabe asked hopefully.
"Yeah but we can't hold our breath," Silas shook his head. "We don't even know if Jackson and Jasper would be okay that one happening one day down the road. They seem to have a closed relationship."
"We do."
The group turned around to see Jackson and Jasper standing a few feet away from them.
"You do on what exactly?" Victor asked.
"We have a closed relationship," Jasper glared at them. "She is ours."
"Easy, Pet," Jackson smirked at their fallen looks. "We did say we would remain open minded when it came to her. She was honest with us from the beginning that while they did crush her, she will always care about them. She was also honest with us when it confused on how she no longer held hatred towards them. We always knew there was a chance of her wanting to be with them again. You never forget your first loves after all."
"But they hurt her," Jasper glared.
"Yes we did," Silas nodded. "And we will forever hate ourselves for it. We were stupid assholes."
"Don't forget it," Jasper said through clench teeth.
"Never," the group agreed.
"Everyone calm down," Jackson said sternly. "Pet, we knew this could happen but nothing is set in stone. We will remain open minded when it comes to her, we agreed everything would be on her terms and at her pace, yes?" Jasper nodded. "Okay, well right now, she is set to marry us and us alone. She is on her journey of forgiving them and healing. It may just be that they are friends and that's that. It could be she wants more later on, even years down the road. She could just want them added to our family but never marry them because of the lack of trust, or she could want to marry, we will cross those bridges when they happen. Let's just keep taking it day by day, open communication with everyone, okay?" Jackson asked looking at everyone.
The Blackbourne Toma team sighed, "Okay."
Jasper glared but sighed, "Okay."
"Soooo glad you could make decisions about me without my input. So much for open fucking communication."
