Alice woke up and groaned at the pounding in her head. Forcing herself out of bed, she stumbled to the bathroom and brushed the cotton out of her mouth. Slipping a hoodie over her head and headed to the kitchen. She grabbed a shot glass and set it on the counter, "Don't move," she grumbled as she took the Vodka out of the cabinet and slid some toast into the toaster. She set the headache relief bottle next to the shot glass then glared at her phone that was ringing.
"I'm going to kill you," she grumbled as she answered the phone.
A deep chuckle came through the speaker, "I didn't force you to take all those shots, Little One," Dr. Roberts replied.
She stuck her tongue out at the phone then shoved the shot glass away and took a gulp of Vodka before popping her headache pills in her mouth and swallowed. "Anyway."
"Guess I don't need to ask how you're feeling," he chuckled again. "At least drink some—"
"Water, yeah yeah, you damn vampire," she grumbled as she opened the fridge and grabbed a water bottle, "doing it now Papa."
"And eat some toast."
Just then the toaster popped up, "yep on that too," she said as she put the two slices on a plate. "I do know how to take care of myself, I'm not a little girl anymore."
"Says the woman that chose to drink after having blood drawn," Dr. Roberts threw back at her.
"Not my fault you are a damn vampire and I deserve to have some fun after the hell you put me through," she glared at the phone. "Besides I'm dealing with the consequences of my actions. At least I didn't go clubbing after you left to drink some more."
"No, but I did hear that you wanted to," Dr. Roberts chuckled.
"No, I didn't," she looked at her phone like he was crazy. "I ate a taco salad and...of fuck," she groaned as the memories started coming back. "No fucking way..."
"Anyway, I got the results back on your tests," Dr. Roberts said as she heard him shuffling some papers around and he cleared his throat, "everything is looking good, Alice. You are making great improvements, but I want you to continue taking your meds and vitamins just to be on the safe side."
"Yeah, got it Doc," she mumbled as she tried to control her racing heart.
"Hey, quit worrying," Dr. Roberts said softly. "You love them and they love you, all of you just need to let go of the past and start anew."
"Easier said than done," she glared as she shoved the plate of toast away. "Anyway, I got to go check on Zero and the mustang. Thanks for the results."
"Alice—"
Alice hung up the phone, took another swing of Vodka then headed outside. "Hey Boss...never mind," Justin said as he took in her hoodie and shorts. "Um Boss?"
"Yeah?" she asked as she turned to look at him. He looked her up and down then rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh shit, yeah, thanks Jay," she said as turned to head back to the house. She quickly changed into her favorite jeans and Korn shirt then slipped her boots on and headed back outside. "Thanks Jay," she said as she kissed his cheek.
"You got it Boss," he smiled as he opened the barn. "Have fun and don't worry, I'll keep the hounds away," he winked, "I haven't seen you."
She hugged him, "you're the best."
"Hey Justin, have you seen Alice?" Brandon asked an hour later when he entered the house to get some breakfast. "She wasn't in her room when I went to give her some medicine for her hangover."
"Nope," he smirked as he poured a cup of coffee, "sorry Boss Men haven't seen the Boss Lady or her feisty pony this morning." He took a sip of his coffee then added more sugar, "the stall was already open when I went in there."
"Uh huh," Luke chuckled, "Sure, okay, well if you do see her, will you let us know. Want to make sure she is feeling alright."
"Sure thing Boss," Justin said as he pushed off the counter and headed back outside.
"I'm not the only one who doesn't believe him, right?" Gabe asked.
"Course not," North scoffed. "He obviously saw her and is just pulling the best friend card."
"Ok good," Gabe nodded, "making sure."
The rest of the day went by, and the group still hadn't seen her. "I'm starting to get worried," Jasper said as he helped set the plates for dinner.
"Me too," Owen frowned as he set some glasses down.
"Justin," Raven growled as he leaned against the open back door.
"Yeah Boss?" Justin called out as he leaned over the fence.
"Where Alice?"
"Not sure," Justin shrugged, "Haven't seen her, been working on that mustang in the field."
"You haven't seen her all day?" Axel asked.
"Not since this morning," Justin shook his head, "she got her pony and went off for a ride."
"It's dinner time, she should be home by now," Kota pointed out.
"She skipped breakfast and lunch," North growled. "She needs to eat. Her pony too."
"Well, I'm sure she's fine Boss," Justin sighed. "Knowing Boss Lady she has her phone, if something happened, she would call someone."
"Unless she got thrown and pinned down again," Sean pointed out. "Oh god what if—"
"What's going on?"
The group turned to see Alice sitting on top of Zero from the driveway.
"Where the hell have you been?"
